So finally we started the journey after getting 30 mins late from the target time at 6:30 am in the morning of 6th September As expected , the city traffic was very less...and we could cross the city at a good pace & soon hit the highway. The first 60 kms till Sangareddy was supposed to be super smooth 4 lanes , which I found out to have developed many pot holes due to the monsoon & had to ride a bit cautiously. There was a constant cross wind directly hitting us on our face (wind direction was West to east). We took a breakfast break at 100kms. And then after another 50 kms , we changed our positions , ie dad took on the rider's seat.

The roads were in a very very bad condition ...dodging our way through the broken 2-lanes we made it to Sholapur by 12:30 pm .... The first 300kms were pretty tiring. The road from Bidar to Karnataka-maharashtra border was a night mare... All the struggle was till Sholapur. We stopped at Sholapur for lunch.

Past Sholapur , we hit awsomely laid 4 laned highway ... but our ill fate , the wind was just too strong .... and it was a constant incline , totally dropping the pace & mileage figures.



The road passed through some beautiful places ... One of which was the Ujani Dam near Tejapur(Maharashtra).

We rode a bit hard till Pune doing 100 kmph at times as the road was pretty good. We touched Pune at around 7pm..it took us more than one and half hour to cross the city. We kept riding towards Nasik ... Chakkan Passed by ..and the good roads came to an end. And super bad roads started. Unexpected potholes so deep , that we saw mini trucks & vans changing their tires ...who probably managed to hit deep pot holes and punture their tires. I tried to keep full concentration. Don't know why , the decently powerful 35 / 35 watt head lamp seemed very ineffective in that darkness.


And finally We reached Daulat Dhaba , one of the most popular Dhaba between Pune & Nashik.

With time , the weather kept getting chilling , to that extent , that we had to put on our rain gears to cope up with the cold. This was absolutely unexpected in the month of September. We were not carrying any warm clothing.


After that ...the next 100 kms was too challenging ... we were around 100 kms away from Nasik...roads full of potholes & the darkness making things worse with stray oncoming traffic coming on with the high beam blinding us. Upon that ghat roads. Phew!!

On the last 50 kms stretch , I started feeling drowsy & had to give up the rider's seat to my dad ... who somehow managed to ride it till Nasik out skirt. It was almost 3 am in the night when we entered Nasik city. Silence everywhere...chilling weather. we somehow found out a lodge & parked the bike , went straight to bed...took me less than 30 seconds to lose consciousness.

All in all , we had done 780 kms of pretty rough riding in the last 20+ hours. The journey was supposed to be a 15 - 16 hour one. Thanks to the super bad roads.

Very nice, mate! This one's going to be great for the simple fact that you've done it with your father and since both of you share the same passion; RESPECT! Just pour in your experiences. Splendid!!

Respect mate!! Dad-son duo should have been fun. One of the things that a dad and son can enjoy together.......gotta talk about this to my dad now!!

Wow!!! that is great to go with Father where we have to trouble a lot for touring from our parents, eve I lie some time to them, which I don't like...

Day - 2 [Nashik to Pune]


One the next day , I started odd for Pune to meet one of my friend. This time i was riding solo as my dad was at a family friend's place. i was a bit skeptical bout the ride because last night i had a pretty bad experience with that stretch. I had lunch at Nasik , and started off for Pune alone at around 4:00 pm . The initial 50 kms were pretty smooth going as now i could spot the pot holes easily & take proper action.

The scenic beauty was truly beautiful. Was enjoying each and every kilometer of riding.


I stopped very few times as i was enjoying the journey a lot. I was riding pretty fast...at one point was tail gating a Swift Dzire ... doing 80 -85 kmph , and the swift went over a pothole , did not hit it as it was in the center and the 4 wheels kind off bridged over it...but i was the unlucky guy tail gating ... I hit that straight , My bag went flying off (which was fastened by bungy chord) . .. I braked real hard , stopped , picked up my bag. Put it back on properly. Was anticipating that both my tires will start leaking now ... but fortunately that did not happen. I rode on.



Soon I did 100 kms crossing huge ghats & again entered the same Daulat Dhaba. Did nothing , just got off the bike , checked everything ... rims & tires and again started riding towards Pune.

The ghats were amazing to ride...cornering fun. Left every vehicle behind on the hair pins

Then it started getting dark ... And i was in Pune at 7:30 pm. The city was a mess....took more than an hour to enter it. Later met my friend and had a good time.



Day - 3 [ Pune to Nashik]


Started off from Pune at .... Crossing city was a difficult job again ... Some how hit the highway ... kept riding straight ... till the first ghat came..I took out my mobile camera to click some pics & do some video recording of the ride.


I was thoroughly enjoying the ride & the scenic beauty. Stopped at Daulat dhaba to have a cold drink ... found out a group of riders sitting their having lunch. Did not find them friendly , so did not talk to them. They kept starring at me so did I .. I left for Nasik in few mins. Skipped lunch that day.

At some corners almost scrapped the foot pegs ... was enjoying the ride a lot. When suddenly the rain god's mood changed...the sky got real dark... I understood it would be wise to put on the rain gears... by the time i thought , it started raining. I hurried and wore the rain gears ... and mistakenly placed my mobile in the rain gears pocket thinking it will be safe & easy to access.


That was the biggest mistake i did. It rained cows & buffaloes ...and my shoes got completely drenched....and my dear mobile too . .and it was completely dead. Luckily I had a spare cell phone...starter using that. reached Nashik at 6:00 pm ... my shoes dried off till then.


Overall the Nashik - Pune - Nashik run was pretty enjoyable. .... I loved the natural beauty of western ghats & Maharashtra.

Nashik was very much known to me as I had my schooling there.

Lucky guy, your dad too has a passion for riding that's really great. Where did you do your schooling at Nasik was it Barnes by any chance?

Wee I know Barnes pretty mcuh ... But I am not from barnes. I am a K.V (kendriya vidyalaya) product .l... Had my schooling at K.V ISP , Nehru Nagar.

Riding back home [day 4]


We started off on the morning of 10th Sept , at 6:30 am .... Soon were out of Nasik city. 35 - 40 kms down the line , it started drizzling... Continued to ride for some more time , and there started a heavy down pour. pulled by beside the road & put on all the rain gears and started off... It rained for about 15 - 20 mins ... my boots & socks were soon completely drenched. ... Then it stopped raining... and with the passsing time , everything dried off including my socks.

This time we were taking a different route , via Ahmednagar. The route was very remote , passed through very remote villages .... lush green beauty everywhere & an amazing joy of riding.










The weather was overall cloudy making our ride even more comfortable & enjoyable. We had out lunch our lunch at a very isolated dhaba in a very remote and interior village.



The food was spicy , but edible & kept us going for the rest of the day. It was a very needed break as we were pretty tired riding through half broken / constructed remote state highways.

The roads were fairly remote , but ride-able .... we enjoyed the scenic beauty around.

Tough job for truckers

Maharashtra was truly naturally beautiful ... the ghats & hills looked amazing specially because they were all green now due to the heavy rains since last few months.

Passed by unknown places ... reading out the mile stones & peeping into the GPS and following it blindly.


Things were going fine... while we noticed that sky is changing its mood ... things became very very dark ... thunder , very high speed winds & rain. It was a storm...I kept on riding a little further to find a shade. We stopped at another 3 places to save our selves from the rain.



And there after ... things just went on getting worse. The rain never stopped .... we struggled to reach Naldurg , completely drenched , tired . We completely lost our pace and realized we can't move further. Also the locals warned us not to take any more risk as the weather was really really bad.

We got a room in a lodge & spent the night there having good "Maharashtrian food" & gossiping & discussing about the day's ride , while it kept raining the whole night. ..... Had it not rained , we would have touched Hyderabad by 12 pm in the night. We were having a good average speed that day & were on time with the planned scheduled.

DAY 5 [ Reaching Home]


We woke up late that morning ... and started our journey at 8:45 pm. I saw the bike had taken good amount of beating due to the over night down pour.



The chain had rusted ... I thought of riding on few kilometers before applying the chain Lube that i was carrying , as chain lubes sit better on warm chain.

Riding with great difficulties , dodging meter deep potholes we finally entered Karnataka .






The roads through Karnataka & A.P were all messed up till Sangareddy.



We faced a lot of difficulty to cross through these roads. Finally we entered Hyderabad and reached home at 4:00 pm in the evening.

I checked the odometer reading , calculated the distance and found that we had done a total of 1931 kms during the whole trip.


Day 5 & The Journey finally came to an end . . . .
