Re: The Twin Beauties - Valparai & Munnar

Munnar was always on my mind. Was waiting for it for almost 6 months.

Whatsapp conversation starts this way -
                Me:What about a 4 days ride?
Harish:Lets go goa (This was a instant reply with no delay )
                Me:What about munnar?

To decide and plan we wanted to meet some were and do some paperwork which didnt happen still , while we were settling on places to meet , we finalized and rode to Gopalswamy betta. That was indeed an awesome place for one day ride.
We had a early start considering the distance to be covered on the day. Harish arrives after 30 mins of long wait , and he bought something in green in the bag , guess what - he's bought the florescent reflectors for VISIBILITY. It helped a lot. One cant go unnoticed with this and he bought one for me. So kind of him.

Some pics of G.P.S Betta -

Send off for the ABS by harish -

And we fixed on Valparai and Munnar.

                The Ride -

                Riders :
1.Harish Kumar , on his new P220 - was glossy red all over tea plantation. :b:

2.Nishanth , on his matt black Duke - with a cool head.

3.Sathish , Green RTR looking for curves.
                ME ME ME

Day 1 : It was a cold start. Plan was to leave Bangalore and reach Valparai by evening. We started off early. Waiting for nishant in the mosquito bites. I hear a KTM sound , we kick started , met harish and we start.
                Route taken : http://goo.gl/maps/wCxI2

                At the base :

                Loaded ship -

Sathyamangalam was so awesome , yeah it was first time for me -

A closer view , No prize for counting number -

We pushed down the bends , taking all the possbile routes since the road was blocked and reached pollachi late afternoon. After crunching yummy biryani , we are back on saddle towards valparai.
The dam before entering valparai's curve -

Ahhhhhhhhh... Valparai.. . . I must admit. I was in love. Again.

It was 8 by the time we reach valparai. Setlled down on a hotel - 'Green Valley' for a decent deal. End of a beautiful day. Jump to Bed.

Re: The Twin Beauties - Valparai & Munnar

Day 2 : Drrrrr... Alarm rings on the phone. Thanks for the option snooze , we slept quiet long. It was very difficult for harish to get his lazy a** off the bed and nishanth will get ready in no time.

Plan was to shoot around valparai and reach munnar by dusk. We thought reaching munnar from valparai will be piece of cake considering the distance , but we could't make it to munnar on the day. Reason - The route. It was scenic and scenic and quiet bad tarmac.

                        Route : http://goo.gl/maps/bIylZ

                        Polluting tea plantations -

                        Enroute Munnar via athirapally -

The sholayar reservoir , the biggest i've seen.

Some random house opposite to the dam -

                        V3 -

                        Watefall at every corner -

Then comes the view. Wow it was magnificent. The picture doesn't do justice.

Reached athirapally at 5. This was the time planned to reach munnar, We realised we cannot make it to munnar and decided to stay in Kothamangalam , kerala.

                        The athirapally falls -

Reached Kothamangalam after an adventurous ride inside a forest in night with heavy rain. We were lucky enough to get a 3 Star hotel in kothamangalam.

                        End of Day 2

Am I the only one here who feels people are doing over-editing of the pics, destroying the natural look? Opened this thread expecting the beauty of Valparai, but disappointed a bit.

Riding to these places is a bliss. The curves on the Valparai always exciting to see, and the beautiful tea estates are always soothing to the eyes. Thanks for sharing.
