Alrighty then. I started riding from Kolkata, took the Dumka-Bhagalpur route. Entered Bhutan via Phuntshelling, rode from Haa to Ura exploring most of the country. Had to make my exit through the zhemgang route. Then rode back home. I'll not post any day to day logs as such. I'll share the photographs and accompanying texts in 4-5 parts, in which the ride was actually divided. Thanks for looking.

Absolutely thrilled and completely absolved of my dire need to do this very same trip... Thank you so much Ani... Smashing professional pictures, love the time exposures... brilliant..

Just an out of the blue off topic question: Did you study in Bangalore? I knew a rider Anirban Banerjee, in a college band named 'Liquid Groove' years back...

Anyway... really awestruck with the pics... and respect for doing it solo.

Excellent photos. Reading quite a few travelogues and the HDRs are nothing sort of brilliant and your camera perspective is mesmerizing. Keep up the good work.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

first of all congrats for that great trip and photolog! I am planning a Sikkim - Bhutan - arunachal trip starting next weekend. mar 22. I had a query for you : The permit that you get in phunshotling - is it meant only for thimpu? or the entire western Bhutan? I can see that you headed to paro before going to thimpu.
Also, are the immigration and RSTA office open on weekends? you meantioned that they issue permits despite holidays?
how did you manage phone connections in Bhutan? international roaming or Bhutanese sim?

Thanks Pitbull. You can only get permits for Thimpu and Paro at Phuntsholing immigration. Those offices will issue permits on holidays, but for a limited number of hours. INR 500, 2 passport sized photos and ID proof will get you a Bhutanese SIM which will be activated within 24 hours. I had Tashi cell. All the best, Bhutan should look blissful in spring.

Apologies for the delay in posting. I'll upload Central and Eastern Bhutan logs as soon as I get some free time.
