AV8TOR: Superb writeup and superb pics...it was simply awesome reading your post. Was so engrossed in it that i forgot my 2.00pm appointment with client and had a nice whacking from boss for it...but its worth it.

Seems you were there at A.H Helmets yesterday afternoon. I guess you had come for the extreme vision bulb... I was there as had gone for purchasing Jacket.

Truly great write up...

Keep it coming bro and let the pics follow.

& I think the ninja 250 luks better than the ninja 300. Is it only me or does anybody else find it to be so. I like the 250 more bcoz I think its got more green than the 300 which is accentuated on the sides wid black lines.

The pictures are awesome. Especially the Greeny Ninjas look beautiful in these landscapes.

BTW, I just wonder why most people tour on a Ninja, CBR, R15, etc whereas these are purely sports bikes and not a tourer.
I understand that we cannot afford to buy 2 bikes, one for daily commute and one for touring. But still this question lingers in my mind always - "How do people tour on a sportsbike? Won't they feel tired? Won't their wrists and back ache?"
I don't mean to hurt anybody's sentiments with their bike. Of course, each of us love our own bikes .

I'll try answering this. Its purely based upon choice and passion. I'm a 6'2, 90 kg dude and i just love sports (track) fully-faired bikes. My dream bike being the R1 made me purchase the R15 ( mainly cause of monetary limitations and less choices in 2010 ). Having said that, my passion lies in touring ! Surprising, yes, i get that a lot from everyone. I'm sure a cruiser would be a million times more comfortable to tour and would handle better in rough terrains, but the adrenaline rush i get everytime i rev my bike on the highway, the sound, the acceleration, and oh god the beauty of a faired bike (totally personal choice) just keeps me going. So much, that i have covered about 300kms at a stretch without stopping. Overall distances were much more ( about 1600 kms in 2 days ).
Long story short, its a total personal choice! Trust me, the incessant criticism i face for being so 'huge' and choosing a 'petite' bike and then touring on it!!! Hahaha

Now, i'm just drooling over all these pics and they are motivating me so much. I plan to do a Mysore-Leh-Ladakh in July-August !!! A saddlesore 1600 or 2000 is imminent in May

Stunning pics mate! And am happy there are a few people like me who feel the 250 looks better than the 300 for the same reason.
I think I read there were three of you going on the ride, never got to see the third guy... or did I get it wrong?

Nice say bro!! I do use my R15 for touring as I love to tour around. And once you're used to it, it doesn't matter. I have also done long strectches like 1700 kms in 2 days with a single stretch of 280 kms and I was not tired at all. So it all depends on how you adjust to your bike.

Coming to the Saddle Sore 1600/2000, as far as I know SS2000 is not approved by IBA in India as in India we don't have any roads/highways which legally permit you to ride at more than 80kmph. All are limited to 80 kmph. So which makes SS2000 to be not possible legally in India, which IBA doesn't approve. You can go for both SS1600 or BB2500, which is legally possible in India. But still give it a check before you plan.

We are also planning a Pune-Srinagar-Leh-Nubra-Manali-Pune tour during June/July. You can join us if you want to.

All the points you mentioned are correct buddy, but the answer to all of it is simple - Unavailability - there are no adventurer tourers available in 200-400cc in India. So just make do with what is available.
