  • [Photo Feature]: Monsoon off road biking to dudhsagar falls

It was in the month of august,
Monsoon .....which is always a pleasure for a biker to ride in
So we have planned for a monsoon ride
    8bikes
    8bikers

    Riders and their rides

    Me - karizma r (grey)
    Satya - karizma r(yellow)
    Phani - karizma r(black)
    Naveen - karizma r(yellow)
    Narendra - p200ns
    Sri satya - thunderbird 350
    Chaitanya - gs150 r
    Asish - avenger 200

It was a three day ride
The plan was to start at 4am sharp and reach gokarna by evening covering sharavathy national park
Asish would directly come to gokarna as he must stay late in office
Day 2 : start at gokarna , visit dudhsagar falls and ride to dandeli
Day 3 start at dandeli and reach bangalore

    But what actually happened is

It was 4th aug 1 30 am. Struggling to sleep, but couldn't
    because of excitement
Just passed the time till 3am and checked everything what we have packed.
3 30am :me and narendra planned to sleep for 30mins , start by 4 and reach the meeting point marathalli
    But it didnt happen
After lot of calls from the fellow bikers finally went to meeting point at 4 45 am
And we started off at 5am
The route which we have taken is
    Bangalore-shimoga-ripponpet-mookambika national park-sharavathy national park-murudeshwara

It was 5 am when we started at marathalli via ORR there was hardly any traffic as it was morning
Stopped for filling petrol after we crossed nelmangla and continued our ride

Please do remember that this my first travelouge in xbhp
So, please excuse me, if any mistakes in write up

    That's it for now
    And let the pics continue

                      Day 1: Bangalore-Shimoga-Ripponpet-sharavathy national park-mookambika national park - batkal-murudeshwar

We stopped for filling petrol after nelmangla and had a nice tea early in the morning

                      here is our first stop

after the break we started cruising around 80-90's towards tumkur
stopped at tumkur for break fast around 6:30 am, had nice thatte idly at pavitra tiffin centre
we were shocked to see people coming by cars and having thatte idly there, it was not a big restaurent, but an ordinary one
later we came to know that it's famous for thatte idly

We took a deviation to left towards shimoga from where 4 lanes roads transformed to good 2 laned
cool breeze..good 2 laned road with plenty of trees aside..cruising in 80's with light music..minimal traffic that's really fantastic experience to ride
Took a short break for clicking some pictures

After the photo session , we started slowly as this time its time for some video
Satya has been trying some different angles while riding but finally succeeded
the roads were smooth with some curves

And now, its time for rain
stopped aside and now Raingear ON :P

Phani and chaitanya doesn't have rain coats and enjoyed rain to its best while riding :P
we finally reached shimoga in the afternoon, from here the bad stretch starts
road is full of potholes and are filled with rain water, the road was in horrible condition
narendra slowed down as his bike's suspension is not that comfortable in these kind of roads.
again stopped for a small break, here phani sqeezed his jacket.. one can collect atleast 1 litre of water from it :P
                      and took some snaps

                      Bull Vs Naked

Its already 2 PM , all were hungry and wanted to have lunch badly
finally at Ripponpet we had our lunch in a small hotel, food was very good and also cheap.
Mean while phani and chaitanya went for shopping rain coats and they bought 2 for 600rs.

Sri satya enjoying rain after having HEAVY lunch :P

We called and asish informed him to reach gokarna by evening.
We then resumed our ride towards mookambika national park
there was hardly any on coming traffic, roads were empty
after ripponpet the roads became better
                      and here are some pics

Roads were in ok-ok condition and we all increased speed by a little as we have to reach gokarna
and now we entered sharavathy national park .
It was very scenic, moreover it looks like a garden and a road laid in it.

It became dark, now narendra takes the lead as P200ns has good lighting
we were just following him as nothing was visible.
In the middle we stopped and switched off the lights and engines too
it was pitch dark with all sort of sounds coming from jungle, i got scared and am the first to on the light again
Finally at 9 PM we reached batkal and called asish
he says that he has reached gokarna and has been waiting for more than 2hrs.
Gokarna is still some 50+kms, all of us got tired and told him that we will join him the next day
We got the room in RNS highway which is few kms away
Had our dinner and crashed the bed

Our initial plan was to visit dudhsagar on the way and reach dandeli by night
we all dont know that it is an off road track to falls, so we planned accordingly.

Reached karwar..entered into GOA..filled petrol for 50RS per litre and started riding
enquired locals towards dudhsagar, but no body is perfect in that route
wasted good 1hr of time finally fixed one route and resumed our ride
Here comes the trouble satya's front tyre got puncture. tyres were not tube less
we were just having the airpump
me and narendra started searching for a puncture shop as it was sunday there are hardly any shops,
found one and called satya , some how managed with filling the air and came to the shop
wasted 2 hrs and here comes the idea for sri satya..visit dudhsagarfalls and stay in goa
All accepted for the decision and started riding to dudhsagar falls enquired locals again .. most of them said that we cant make it today as it 5PM
madgoa is another 15-20kms from here ..stayed at colva resorts for the day (a beach side resort) which was decent enough for decent fare
