I planned to leave our hostel and hit the road on 8th august,2013 late evening, but some how we (me & mainak da) were late , we had our dinner and hit the road around 9.30pm ..


What to know what was the FB update next day ?


Faced the furious & dangerous side of thunderstrom ..(8th august,2013)
Actually 12 at night , from when our actual NH ride started , rain also started showing it power, most of the vehicles stopped in lay by ..
So we had to take shelter in a bus stand and stayed there only all the night and started again my ride from 7am (though then also raining),we were all wet because of "No proper rain gear"..
Reached Ramesswaram at 2pm so we were late by 8 hours ..
But enjoyed the rain that night too much .. total kms traveled 672kms ... with Mainak Basu


Haha, we didn't have any rain gear at that moment and rain god showed his power ..

Platina 125 became ready by that afternoon by needed servicing by me only ..

Btw we need to service the bike from inside not just an waterwash or polish ..
It includes
1.cleaning spark plug
2.cleaning chain kit & lubing it
3.cleaning air-filter
4.changing engine oil & oil filter
5.optimum freeplay on brakes & clutch etc
6.chking external electrical circuit ..
7. taking all the bike tools & extra engine oil , extra lamps in the tool box , extra tubes, foot pump..



and I am ready to leave


After that we slowly cruised on SH , maintained 70kmph speed towards chennai-trichy NH ..


Nearly about 11.30 we were on NH..
Then in the 1st toll booth we stopped and had tea and

Then only the drizling started but we continued but around 15mins later rain started showing its power , then it converted into thunderstorm , we had to take shelter into a bus stop , where already 2 people with one Apache were waiting ..
It started raining soo heavy that all the trucks, buses, cars pulled over ..
We waited all the night there in the bus stop simply sitting inside and waiting for stopping the rain and starting the ride again .. nearly at 4.30am trucks started moving again but still all the cars were stopped roadside , we chked the weather in rameswaram , google showed its raining there also
At that moment we were in bad confusion that we should continue or go back ..


Some how I could remember my dad told me to carry on while raining , not to stop anywhere ..
I started riding in rain again in the morning 5.45am , sunlight came out , hazard light , DRL, Headlight all were on , shoes, shirts , jacket , pant , inner all were super wet in cool water , I was shivering and cruising at 90+kmph speed, road was totally free , only some trucks and cars were rarely visible ..

We stopped once for a hot tea roadside and again continued ride like I don't care about rain , i want to continue my ride ..
On the way in all the town/city point we searched for rain-coat but failed ..
When we were nearing Trichy , rain stopped , but we were simply drainached ..


We went into an restrurent had our breakfast and continued towards rameswaram

then we continued towards rameswaram temple and checked in a lodge (budget wala, we are student ) , and parked my bike

Then we entered into the room , we were tired from out bone ..
Some luggage were wet , got them out from bag, freshened up our self and then slept like baby for 3-4hours , woke up at 4pm got out of room , had our lunch ..
Them mainak da was ready to follow our previous plan , which is Dhanuskodi.
But I though as its nearing eveing so try for dhanuskodi will be useless ..
Romed around rameswaram and searched for raincote again , but failed ..

We didn't enter the main rameswaram temple , I don't like to keep my shoes and mobile,laptop to them for visiting GOD , let them stay at their place ..


Then we went to pambam bridge once again , enjoyed the view at night .
We came back had bengali dinner only in 60rs and again slept ..

The next part ..

Next day we woke up early at 5.30am, freshened up and left our room .
Then we had tea and GPS was set to Dhanuskodi ..
Let the pics tell the story ..

When we reached the dirt track , we found another rider with CBR250 just left the place ,exchanged greetings and I continued on dirt track following jeep trails ..
First 100-150ft was loose sand where my pillion had to walk and I continued on bike in Dirt style ..
After that all were nice , we could easily maintain 40-60kmph and rear wheel was skidding here and there ..
Though I found putting more weight on front wheel made my bike more stable as chance of front wheel skid became less .. We continued .............

At that moment we found it started drizzling suddenly , so we didn't waste any time and started towards mainland as we were not even wearing our jackets :O
and if it rains there again then we will really stuck there ..


Again we followed a jeep which took us to the main road via a different offroad where just last 5ft my bike rear got stuck , really & royally stuck , though as its very light weight bike we didn't had much prob , pushed my bike out and on road , cruised top speed towards rameswaram as we had to leave towards kanyakumari that day only ..........................................

After reaching rameswaram we took light breakfast packed our luggage and checked out from the lodge ..
Now GPS was set to kanyakumari via coastal road , no highway ..
We wanted to cover more coastal area and wanted to see the life of local people , wanted enjoy local food but lack of time was giving trouble to us ..



just after leaving rameswaram in front of a hotel, we stopped here for water and cold drinks

while cruising beside the sea coast the thing you can find all the way is salt ..
Preparation of salt is one of the main profession of local people ..

But the more closure to kanyakumari , the landscape changed..



we found lots of peacocks by the side of the roads , but tough to capture on camera as they can easily sense our presence because of bike engine sound ..
Surely we didn't had time to stop and wait for them :P , we were already very late right from the start of the trip



roads were good with lots of potholes :P , giving our backs nice pain though my bike's super soft suspension helped us a lot , as I was not ready to slowdown so I expected rim bend but nicely it was not there..

some local beach, we were interested to go there but on our bike only (we didn't want to waste time), but they didn't allow us so we cruised again in my own speed of 70-100kmph non stop in typical hot temp ..

As the day light was diming fast we could not click much after this , simply we continued to kanyakumari and took a hotel at 400rs with nice parking space ..
We went to our room and found my left foot having too much pain to walk and its having bulge also, didn't try source the cause .. some how went out side after freshening up , packed our dinner came back to room again after roaming here & there in side kanyakumari but it was already 8.30 or 9pm ..
I was not able to change the gear even
I was too tensed as we had to come back to vellore next day any how, being a biomedical student we had our own advantages :P
Then we taken our dinner in room, had my medicines , applied sprays on foot and slept like baby ..
