• [Photo Feature]: Travelogues of the BIG BLUE BIRD Ride 7 (Bangalore-Mullayyanagiri)

Before I start off with my ranting on how awesome my experience of riding with some of my XBhp forum buddies let me write a few lines about the location and how we accidentally per me Landed at this location.

But first a bit about the destination - Mullayyanagiri (also spelt Mullayangiri or Mullainagiri) is the highest peak in Karnataka, India. It is located in the Chandra Dhrona Hill Ranges of the Western Ghats of Chikmagalur Taluk. The peak towers at a height of 1,930 meters (6,330 ft.), it is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris.

The adventure starts with a plan for an offline ride to Bhadra Coffee Shop, Balehonnur, Chikmagalur-Sringeri Road, Karnataka. Participants for the ride were Sriram [P220F; yellowspunk] , Mayank [R15; Racing Instincthttp://tinyurl.com/BhadraCoffeeShopride

Mulliyanagiri is an excellent place and the roads leading up all the way are even more beautiful. Great to see the busa climbing all the way.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

yes we planned for Balehonnur and got lost on the way detoured and landed at Mullaiyangiri. that was the entertaining part of the ride.... being a 100 meter ahead can lead to a lot chaos especially in unknown terrain. after the stop at Mullaiyangiri none of has the energy left in us to go another 70 odd KM to Balehonnur ...

btw what speeds were the normal bikes maintaining?
100 kmph until riders got into the woods. Moreover, Mullayanagiri has treacherous terrain and climbing it > 15-20 kmph can be suicidal.

http://goo.gl/maps/kbJgh ... I wonder how you guys went from Aldur side... in the route I mentioned, the final bit from Point B in the map to Mullayangiri was absolutely and completely offroad (dirt track filled with jagged rocks)... that bit itself took us so much time. Might have changed now.

The Aldur - Balehonnur road is State Highway 27... fantastic fantastic road to explore West Karnataka Ghats - Starts from Virajpet and meanders itself through Coorg, Sakleshpur, Badra WLS, Agumbe, Kollur all the way to Baindur (Near Kundapur on the coast). As fas as I know, SH27 doesn't go to Mullayangiri which comes inbetween Chikmagalur and Tarikere (SH 57).

Anyway, Do let me know if there is another road opened up to M'giri from Aldur... Haven't been on that one.

Cheers and keep the T'logs of the BlueBird coming bro...
