The Ride - Part 2: Pollachi to Valparai

We started from the tea stall at the base of the hills after the short break. Another 3 KMs and we were already climbing up. We both decided that we would not be hurrying up, rather we would stop if the scenery around us intrigues. It was hardly few meters into the climb when i was baffled by the Aliyar dam reservoir view! I pulled over, took out my camera and starting clicking.

We started the uphill climb again. It was slow because the surroundings were so serene, the road, the curve, the shades on the road; everything made me enjoy the climb more than to hurry it up to the top. Some pictures while going uphill goes below.

Jeevan had already visited this place once and so he asked me to speed up and go to the top where I would be surrounded with tea plantations all around. Excited, needless to say, I increased my speed. Within few minutes I could see a all new scenery in front of me. It was not rough and hot like the one I had been crossing till now, rather it was filled with green and mist around me. The thought I had in my mind was "Woah! Its a double treat for me today, first those mesmerizing moments with windmills and now, this!". Honestly I would not have been happier than what I was at that very moment. We slowed down, taking our time to take some deep breaths in the fresh air and click some pictures. In the meantime Jeevan's ODO had touched 8888 KMs and he wanted to celebrate the moment with a special capture of his steed in the middle of the greenery. I would let the pictures do the talking now because honestly speaking, no words can describe this beauty which I tried to capture and I am sure the pictures do not do justice here.

Spending almost 2 hours in the lush green environment, it was finally time for us to go down. We were hungry as well and wanted to eat badly. We drove down as fast as we can to the base of the hills. We indeed took some pictures as well while going down.

We came back to the same tea stall where we had tea in the morning. It was close to 12:00 PM and hence we wanted to have lunch directly. We ordered Egg Biriyani and 2 fish fries for me . I must say, those were some real good fish fries I had after a long long time. We took some much needed rest because the temperature was going up and we needed a break before we start our home run. An hour was sufficient for us and we slowly got ready to start our journey back home.

                        Log to continue..

The Ride - Part 3: Home Run - Valparai to Bengaluru

It was 01:00 PM and we slowly got ready to ride back home. Now was the most difficult task because the sun was in its full glow and the temperature was high enough to make us uncomfortable. Anyways, we still kick started the ride and now that we have lot of time in our hands, we decided not to hurry things to the end. However, although things were said and done, the moment we were on the road, both of us started flying . Gone were the heat, gone were the sweat..it was just cool breeze all along. Beauty of riding, ain't it? . I did want to stop at few places to get the view of the windmills during this time because what we saw before was during sunrise (a silhouette effect) and now it was more of a actual scenery. Some pictures which we took along the way to Avinashi.

We were maintaining a decent speed of 80 on our way back and it did not take much time for us to reach the NH 47. We increased our speed now, being on the traffic-less, straight and boring highway. Sometimes we did see people crossing on cars, have a look at us (as if we were some alien), some admiring our gears, some laughing at us . we crossed Bhavani and took our first break underneath a tree (by the way, now we realized how humid and hot was the temperature).

Few moments later, munching some chocolates and drinking water, we continued our journey back home. The next stop was designated to be Salem because both me and Jeevan had to fill up the tank before we take the final run home. The sun was now behind us, so it was a big relief for us and we sped past the milestones. Around 4:30 PM we were on the outskirts of Salem and we were able to see the hills around us. I pointed them out to Jeevan, roughly showing where Yercaud is. We crossed the city of Salem and pulled over to a pump to fill our steeds up.

Our thirsty souls wanted some tea as we go further; once we hit the NH7, pulled over to the first tea stall we sighted.

We started off again after a short break. Now we were seeing the sun setting on our left side. It was an amazing scene I must say. I never felt like going home and I so wished that the highway never ends and this feeling stays forever. We both, hungry for pictures, were stopping our bikes from time to time to take pictures.

We were now getting late and hence thought to stop for one last time when we see the sun inches over the horizon. We increased our speed now, overtaking vehicles (trucks mostly). Suddenly the traffic had increased a lot and mostly of them were long trucks carrying cargo (I hate them when they cruise at a mere speed of 10 KMph and slow the traffic ). We were actually struggling to overtake some of them because there were two cargo trucks running side by side and people from behind were honking like crazy. Finally one truck gave way and people sped like mad . A few KMs and we noticed the traffic thinning out, leaving us relieved. In the meantime we saw the sun setting on the horizon and as pre-decided, we pulled over and took some shots.

Getting some good shots of the sunset, we resumed our ride. Now, it was a pretty much empty road and we were riding at a speed of 90. Another 2 hours and we were knocking on the gates of Karnataka (both were happy that we actually did arrive earlier than we thought). We had now estimated heavy ongoing traffic now towards Bengaluru so we decided to split from here only. By 08:30 PM I was at my home and so was Jeevan.

This ride had showed some level of endurance for me and I was now confident enough to carry forward the same and level it up someday soon. Till now, it was simply mindblowing day for us, the places we visited, the pictures we took, gave some memories which we would not forget soon. Until next time guys.

                            THE END.
