• [Photo Feature]: 4 guys were Araku'ed

It all started off as a simple discussion where in we three friends I (Dilip P), Sandeep Patnala and Manish S thought of meeting at a halfway location for us. Sandeep stays at Vijaywada, and we two stay at Hyderabad, and we were discussing of meeting up at Suryapet, which is roughly a 135 km ride from either directions. We were pretty sure of meeting up and we also wanted to check out the latest xBhp magazine issue, in which Sandeep's article was also published and there was also the Hyderabad G2G article.

It was all well and good, when there were some holidays coming up on Friday (good friday) Apr 18, and the next two days were Saturday and Sunday, and another xBhp member Rishi R also was in for the ride, and the plan changed from a 135 km ride to a 1900 km ride.

Our discussion started roughly a week before the ride, and after all the working out of leaves (for some), holidays (for some)., we decided to go to Araku.
Sandeep P had already once done Araku, and had suggested us, and we all couldn't agree more. He also suggested a route, which would be scenic, dense forest and full of ghats as well. We were more than excited. So now we had also got the permission from our home's., so it was backpacking time. We had immediately started sharing all the items to pack up and were updating ourselves. And the checklist was complete.

Our plan was to ride friday, saturday and sunday., and our route map was Hyderabad- Vijaywada- Eluru- Rajahmundry- Maredumillu- Sileru-Paderu-Araku and return was Araku-Paderu-Lambisingi-Narsipatnam-Tuni-Rajahmundry-Vijaywada-Hyderabad.

But we 3 hyderabad guys had to save some time for the onward journey and decided to reach vijaywada by thrusday night itself, as it would save us approximately 5 hours.

And finally the day arrived, and we three guys met up in the evening as we had office., and started off in the evening to Vijayawada from Hyderabad, and guys the RoadTrip starts.

But as sometimes it is said, everything doesn't go as planned, there were quite a few twists and re-routing.

Few pics below., full story and more pics after mod approval.

Day half:
So the Day half, which was Thursday was very good, three of us met at 6 pm, and by the time we reached the outskirts of the city to the road which led us to our first destination, it was 7 pm. We had to cover 280 kms, we planned to take it smooth and relaxed. We started, and our very important point to ourselves was: stopping at every toll booth. This road had 4 tolls, which gave us a split of roughly 60 kms per stop.
So after the second toll, we had stopped for dinner, and then proceeded further, and we reached Vijaywada by 1 am Friday. Here our friend and member @Sandeep Patnala greeted us and walked us to the accommodation for the night. We had very less time to sleep, as our next day plan was to start by 6am. We slept for 3-4 hours, a little less sleep, but yes the excitement was imminent.
Day one:
So we start off the next day packing and we roll by 6.30 am. And here starts our day 1. Our plan was to reach Araku by end of day. We started for the route of Vijaywada-Rajahmundry-Maredumillu-Sileru-Araku. This route would consist of some exceptional scenery.
We had some tea after 35 kms, and then our next stop was Rajahmundry for breakfast, and refueling to the brim, as there would be no pumps once we leave Rajahmundry and we would have to cover nearly 380 kms.
While on the way to Rajahmundry, we stopped for a moment when a car pulled up and there was a guy who came to us and introduced himself as Naresh Varma and a member of xBhp too. He was travelling to Vizag for his marriage. He accompanied us till Rajahmundry and we had breakfast and bid bye and luck to him.
It was almost 11.30 am and 200 kms covered. So it was fuel time, all tanks filled, one jerry can also for safety, and we were ready for our next leg. And slowly the road gets narrower and there are tiny villages coming up, and the staring of people at us increases though it continued till the end of the trip. We ask for directions at particular junctions, and we get proper treatment. We had to next stop at Maredumillu (80 km from Rajahmundry) for further planning as well as quench our thirst and eat some food. And this place is quite famous for its bamboo chicken. Man it was yummy, but the weather was hot, literally getting cooked ourselves.
By the time we had our lunch it was 02.30 pm, and here started our plans going wrong, we had another 280 odd kms to cover, but it was full of ghats, bad roads, and forests. There would be no help, shop or people as far as the information was collected. Now we started calling our senior members for their advice, and finally with the advice of Kishore vejju and Ravi varma we cancelled going that way and we headed back to Rajahmundry in the hope of going to VIZAG NH5 route at least by night and staying there. But our hopes did not match up, as by the time we reached Rajahmundry it was 6.30 pm, we were very dehydrated by the heat, our bums became rock hard, and we were tired too.
We decided to think over, and as per sandeep staying back at Rajahmundry only was a good option, as it would be risky to cover another 200 kms in the night. Sandeep called up his dad & immediately Railway guest house accommodation was booked, we were happy, we were tired, and so we freshened up, ventured out had some tiffin and some really good homemade butter milk which was sold in the shops. And back to our rooms by 10 pm, some chatting and off to sleep.

P.S: there was a horror story in the night, the mosquitoes literally sucked up a liter of blood from us.

Day 2 and Day 3 shall be posted shortly.

Re: 4 guys were Araku'ed

Day Two:

Now after a tiring day 1 (especially due to the heat), we were ready for the day 2 and today our destination finally was Araku. So we started off by 0600 hrs, and we took the NH5 which led us straight to VIZAG (200 kms), and man the roads were super beautiful along with the scenery right along. The beautiful farm lands, the sun shine gazing on us, there was a kind of serene in the breeze that day. We were riding along cooly, easily and happily. We took a tea break at 35 kms, and then a breakfast break at 100 kms. The breakfast we did was at Tuni, here i had also changed my engine oil. The breakfast centre was a Hut, and damn it had some delicious soft idlies, and the pesarattu and puri's were no less. Some air checking done, and we again set off. We were approaching Vizag, and we were 28 kms off before, here manish had some refuelling done.

Now there were 2 options here, the time was approx. 1200 hrs. The way to Araku was just as we enter the city, and we take a left from N.A.D junction, but there was other option of going to beach. There were 2 noted beaches, Rushikonda, and R K Beach. Now there was some kind of discussion going on wether to touch the beach, or directly move to Araku, then after some discussion we thought we will visit the RK Beach and since it was noon, also have Lunch. We planned our Lunch at Delicacies restuarant, where the owner is a HVKian. So straight off we went to the beach in approx. 35 mins, and from there to the Hotel. Had some really delicious meal, and then asked for some directions from there to the Araku road, and then it was fuel time for Sandeep and Me. So Full Tank it was, and then straight to Araku which was 110 km away. The road direction was via pendurthi, and the best thing here was, the roads were super nice, seperate bus lanes and traffic lanes until pendurthi.

So after passing through some villages, and 50 kms later., boy o boy the thing we craved for is here, the GHATS. The next 50-60 kms were ghats, ghats, and ghats. And here was where all our minds came to a common point. It was Happiness, it was Bliss. And the fun starts, and we were enjoying to the core. We were flying our way through. The temperature was very cool now, only adding to our bliss. We stopped by at a view point, had few snaps. Then we were at Araku finally at 1800 hrs.
Sandeep knew a place, and we went straight there, room available, check in. Feeling blessed.
Then after a few moments, we again were back on the road, just to check out the other side of the road, and we went about 10-15 kms, so as to touch the Orissa border, and then back, filled up our tanks, went back to the room, ordered food, had dinner, and done for the day. The next day was a big ride back, but the scenery was never going to come down.

Day Three:

After a wonderful, joyous day 2, we started on the return path of Araku-Paderu-Lambasingi-Narsipatnam-Tuni-Rajahmundry-Vijaywada.
We start of the next day around 0630 hrs.
The roads here were narrow, and broken, but it only had to overcome owing to the beauty of Mother Nature. Simply mind stunning sceneries all around. Today our main point was to touch the village called Lambasingi, which is the coldest village in Andhra Pradesh. Along the way, our pro photographer took some beauty pics. We reached Lambasingi, we were happy but the point was in summers, it was like any other village. So then we had some more really narrow ghats to encounter before we reached narsipatnam. Then it was about 1300 by the time we reached narsipatnam. Here we stopped for Lunch, had some tiffins, and we headed back to Tuni, so as to touch the NH5 back again. The Heat was full on, it was sucking the water levels of us pretty quick. We had to consistently stop for getting some drinks, water, tea, butter milk, coconut water, basically which ever.

We had another 100 kms to rajahmundry from tuni, and 300 kms to Vijaywada.
We Rode until Ravulapalem, where we had a Badam milk break, this dhaba was famous for its Badam Milk, it was real good.
Then next it was to Vijaywada, and it had been getting dark. We rode through and we expected to be at Vijaywada by atleast 2000 hrs, but as said earlier things dont go as well planned, we reached only by 2130 hrs. So sandy's destination had come, so we had some soup and we bid bye to Sandy, and we started off to Hyderabad. It was 2230 when we started, we decided to go at real relaxed speeds, as it was late in the night, and we had to cover 280 kms to reach Hyderabad. We were going as decided in a relaxed speed, and we almost covered about 35 kms, when Manish suddenly pulls me up saying that Rishi hasn't been seen in the rear view mirror for about 2 kms. So we suddenly stop, and we get a call in a few mins from Rishi saying he had crashed. We immediately get a call from Sandeep also that he too got a call from Rishi, and we reach Rishi in a few mins. His bike is crashed, and cannot be driven. Very fortunately, all the gear saved him, with only a few scratches on his leg. He had been tired, and he had some glare, and his eyes blinked/closed just a bit longer for this to happen. But he was unhurt, but not to take risk, our other rider member Jagadeesh along with Manish took him to the hosptial. Myself and Sandy were near the bike, and we could not take it anywhere, so we locked it up there itself, and went to the hospital. All was good, what next we were thinking. Jagadeesh said, he ll arrange for towing the bike back to his place the next day, and luckily he could also arrange for a taxi at that time in the night. So Myself and Manish had to park our bike at Sandy's place, and we went back to Hyderabad by taxi. We dropped of Rishi, and we too were back to our places.

And there ends our really long, eventful, adventurous, a hot and a beautiful trip. Except only for one bad incident.

P.S: this is my first write up on the Forum. Thanks all.
P.S. 2: we were one famous lot all through the ride, people constantly gazing and asking many things.

The next day start
