      Route Taken : Bangalore-Davanagere –Dharwad-Kalhatgi-Mundgod-Malgi-Sirsi-Jog Falls-Sagar-Hasirumakki-Sampekatte-Kodachadri-Nagara-Ayyanur-Shimoga-Tarikere-Kemmangundi-Attigundi-BabaBudangiri-Mullayyanagiri-Chikmagalur-Hassan-Kunigal-Bangalore.

Two back to back drives, one to Dandeli and the other to Goa, instigated that itch for a ride running in one corner on my mind. A wedding in Dharwad gave the right encouragement to draft a plan. So keeping Dharwad as a anchor, had options like Goa/Dandeli/Hampi/Architectural circuit of Badami-Aihole-Pattaddakal. Out of nowhere Belum Caves and Gandikota seemed to be a very prospective contender. Though the annual visit to Kodachadri was to happen during monsoons, Ananth and Kartik suggested we do it once before that. Few calls exchanged, these guys changed their ride plans from Idukki to Kodachadri. Kartik was a first timer to Koda, so was the more excited of the three.
So it was like , I would ride down to Dharwad on Friday, Attend the wedding and start for Koda the next afternoon and these guys would ride down from Chennai on Saturday and catch up with me on Saturday evening, everything seemed perfect.

      Day1 : Bangalore-Dharwad
So started from Bangalore around 6AM. The GQ, is like math to me (may be for the most of us), when in school or even worse during college. You have no idea where the hell in life would whatever you have learnt would be useful. Have to do it, just for the heck of it.. No excitement, more so on the OX, I was riding. With a 20 min break just to have a plate of idly outside of Tumkur reached Dharwad by around 11-11.30. The groom was getting decked up for the proceedings in the evening. Being in Dharwad, missing out on authentic Dharwad Pedhas, Is a sin.

      Day 2 : Dharwad-Kalghatgi-Mundgod-Sirsi-Sagar-Sampekatte
Was woken up by friends who reached there in the morning.

Soon after attending the wedding the interesting part of the ride kicked off. No more Four laned boring roads, but country roads with dark clouds in the backdrop. Though visually it was soothing to the eyes, was sweating like a pig inside.

Shortly after Kalghatgi saw a lake slightly off the road. Initially rode ahead, but felt like missed something. Couldn’t resist the temptation of getting closer to it. The place was like One small pathway separated the lake and a small stream running parallel. The water from the stream was used to irrigate the farms. Nobody to disturb you, was heavenly. A perfect moment for Offering a minute of Silence for the Martyr’d soul err…. Sorry married soul

The roads were in fantastic shape, never felt like stopping till got some indication of a growling stomach.

Though had no intentions of visiting Jog falls, thought of giving it a try since I had time till these guys reached Sampekatte(Base of Kodachadri). Didn’t even switch off the ignition, returned back after seeing the plight of the falls spent some time around the bridge.

Riding literally on top of Jog falls

      Spot the Falls

      Customary stop

Reached asirumakki, the shocker of my life. In my visits to Koda/Areas around Linganamakki backwaters, never seen this worse a water level. Spent some time till sunset and head to the homestay, only to see Kartik and Ananth reaching there just around then.
Just to give a comparison on the level of water,

      This is the current condition

P.S: Notice the trees at the far end, the following pics were clicked from there

These are old Pics during monsoon

Always have got very good sunset views here

Few laughs exchanged and a super heavy dinner crash for the day.
