Well before i start let me introduce myself again, My name is Franklin.. i live in Thane , Mumbai. I work with a music channel as Director of Photography. Well behind this glam world that we see on television lies a very hectic job profile. But big deal i chose my career and i love my job to the core... but riding was something that i used to always think of but never did that hardcore riding in real, small ride around 200 kms were always on the agenda. but after i was introduced to xBhp it all changed.. Most importantly i would like to thank my fellow xBhpian Sanchit Arora for inspiring me to do this ride.. His T-log did help me when i was planing my ride..... so cheers mate...
I seen a very different phase of biking out here. People here live to ride... that's my agenda in life too.. Touring, exploring meeting new people and experiencing the roads, and what better than a bike...

Finally the i made up my mind to plan a ride... I rode before to Goa, which was my longest so far and i shared that on xBhp... but this time i wanted to take a big leap and visit places which i always been through by cars and trains experience the feeling of riding. And yes the destination was decided... Pondicherry and Shrine Basilica ( Velankanni )..

Well the rest as the T-log get approved....

Living the Roads To Eternity 1.0 - Pondy Calling....

          Pre-ride Preparations -

So now that the final destination was decided... Pondicherry and then from there move on to Shrine basilica (Velankanni). It was time that i let my friends know about my plan, as i expected i was called with every possible names that they could to make me feel that i'm a psychotic person to ride so far on my bike. But that didn't change me. I was bull headed about my plan.. so it was now inviting some biker friends who in this course of time i had learnt even they share a same passion as i do. some were unsure, some gave a dead no answers, and some left me in a pipeline. But at last this friend of mine his name is Nizam Shaikh, he was in for the plan...

Mid of April the plan starts, finding routes, places to stay, places to visit, most importantly applying leaves at work and settling my all project that were in pipeline. Well after that weeks went changing routes between work and free time we used to talk about our plan, shopping started in the first week of May as the final date was confirmed as 21st June 2014... Which only a couple of day before i got to know that it was the World Motorcycling Days when i started getting invitation for short rides.

Well as the dates were getting closer it felt the time was moving slower.. well that was gonna be one of my longest ride and something i always wished for until a week before the ride, i just happen to msg Nizam to confirm about the ride and his preparation for the ride.. Now Nizam by the way runs a Performance Upgrade work shop for superbikes with name Technos.. Now there he had an emergency at his workshop as he had to bike which he had to setup and deliver which could take him more than a week as he was awaiting some parts... so all i could derive from the situation was "I was riding alone" well never rode so far alone. But i just can't express what this ride meant to me and how desperate i was to do it.
So there was now gonna ride the next 7 days all by myself, there were some weird thought that did pop my mind but there was no rooms for them to anymore.. and my ride continues final few things that were required i had planed to buy them the week before i leave and i had a lot of thing yet to be purchased.

          Things to do -

          1. Servicing the Bike
          2. Buy saddle bag
          3. Tank Bag,
          4. Bungee Cords
          5. Rain suits
          6. Tyre puncture kit
          7. Air pump
          8. Rynox Mobile Holder
          9. Miscellanous ....

That was at the Municipal House of New Bombay. well this one place has becomes the famous clicking spot for all our bike enthusiast before we start the ride on NH 4. and it is also because of the huge Indian Flag that sways, Unfortunately since it was too early the flag was not yet hoisted.

Well connected the NH 4 Via the Uran JNPT road and there i was on the NH 4 which was going to last till i reach my first destination Tumkur. My plan of action was to ride nonstop till Pune and i had spaced out my breaks accordingly and yes most importantly i was scared of the rains.. But trust me not one spot was i stopped ny the rains which was a boon for me, except for lil ahead of the Nippani ghat where it did rain for couple of Kms and then it was dry run till Tumkur well not not clicked too many pics because my focus was i wanted to cover the maximum distance... so here are the first click after i clicked at new bombay was directly clicked at my first halt Satara KFC which was my breakfast halt. (

(Some pics are clicked from Cell Phone the initial ones.)

Reporting time home... break for sometime...

From then on it was just riding when rode from between two rocky hills and suddenly this opened up in front of me. Now i must say the roads after kolhapur were just awesome and so scenic as in i felt like they were landscaped on purpose... as i was nearing Dharwad - Hubli this what i came across..

Well these were the last set of pic of pics for Day 1 because from here all i did was Hardcore riding all the way till Tumkur. I must say the roads are so fast once you on the NH4 that you don't realized until it gives you a butt ache.. And that was my agenda further ride till it pain and take small breaks because i underestimated the distance in beginning even after riding constantly ....

It was 5:30PM and all i reached was Chitradurga.. i knew that i still had a good distance to cover almost 200 kms more and well but after riding for the past 13 hours and that 200 kms were like a good 500 kms.. I didn't wanted to stress but i knew if i stop early it will add up to my distance tomorrow.. so i had to been on target.. multiple butt relief stops and finally i made it to tumkur by 8:30PM and there i was looking for a decent place to stay and didnt wanted to enter the city so found a Lodge close to the highway... Nice place if any one travelling on this route can checkin here.. Its a new place called Karthik Residency.

Living The Roads to Eternity 1.0 - Pondy Calling....

Day 2 - Tumkur to Pondicherry

After all the hardcore riding and covering the maximum distance in one day. My POA was to start early and reach as early as i can to Pondy as i wanted to spend the evening on the rocky beach... apart not one place did i have my bookings and i wanted to stay in the auroville ashram since been a member of auroville my plans this time was to settle off in the park guest house one of the closest to the water front. whenever i visited pondicherry it was always full. Anyways coming back to the ride. there i was up by 4:00 am and freshened up and saddled up my baby. And in the same place where i was put up i happened to meet a aged couple who had come from mumbai in their car. Had a small talk with them and they were pretty amazed about my ride all the way to pondicherry as there were gonna drive only till salem. But like my Parents i got a word of advice from them "ride safe don't stress and rest it required for you and your machine" that really made me think was i over stressing on my baby by riding continuously for almost 1000+ kms in a day.. But then i knew that duke had the capability of more than. And trust me guys she is just awesome on roads not just by her looks but after this ride i have got more emotionally attached with my duke... she is just unstoppable.

With all this i hit the roads by 5:15 AM. and there was back on the NH4 which then continued on to NH7 which go further up to Salem but i had to take a diversion from krishnagiri. As was riding towards Bangalore which is just 80 odd kms from tumkur and i was enjoying the morning breeze on the highway and did some riders on the other side of the highway going towards tumkur. and then i realized its sunday and it must their sunday ride like how we have back in mumbai.... finally reached Bangalore in an hour or so... maintained a good speed and there i was always heard of it and only road in india which ask to pay toll for bikes.. wanted to experience the NICE Road. to skip the bangalore city traffic.

The entrance for the NICE road...

Well that was the only pic from the nice road.. however it was a nice experience riding on the NICE roads i'm sure this road make a lot of the difference to the people of Bangalore as it bypasses all the city traffic... well those 40 kms did make me feel like i'm riding some where over seas...just as i exited the nice roads i stopped for breakfast at a small Dhaba kind of thing after the toll and i guess it was a good decision as i had one of the best chatni's over there and breakfast was super cheap and awesome... Well it was like a truckers dhaba but what matter's is how good your taste bud feel about what you eat.

This was as i was approaching Krishnagiri...

Well once i took the left from krishnagiri i had to connect the NH66 which would take me straight to pondicherry.. Now the only difference here was been riding on one of the best roads so far... sudden change in route from NH7 to NH66 ... well it was not just a change but a massive one. And trust me as i entered the right from under the bridge that take you a chennai that what it said... it was a complete potholed roads.. and then suddenly it changed to a smooth roads and i was happy again thinking may be that was just a initial patch but unfortunately that was how it was gonna be for the next 90 kms.. as i inquired with locals this was the information i received

After only Gingee the roads started gettin better and wider.... finally back on the smooth NH66 welll that moment was really a special moment for me because i was finally reaching my dream... my dream ride, something that i planned for ages... and mostly importantly i have a very special connection with pondicherry... Don't know felt like a second home... well since it was getting hotter by time not many clicks till i reach but just this one as i reached Pondy...
