Day1: Actually although we planned our destination for each day we decided we will ride only till 5:30 in the evening and stop at nearest hotel. Plan was to start from Nagarabhavi circle as our meeting point. I reached there by 5:30 am, Ashwin was late and reached by 6 am.Cloudy morning, we started at easy speed and took our 1st pitstop at Kamat just before Tumlur. After breakfast we started towards Shimoga, reached by 12:00, after crossing Shimoga city, sky was now with dark clouds , just stopped for a piss stop, as we were about to start we saw a cyclist with long beard he told us he had left Bangalore on Monday and was planning an all India trip on cycle.[emoji50].we saluted his spirit and started towards Sagara, we reached around 2:00 and finished our lunch there, there were light rain all through but not heavy to stop our journey. After lunch our next destination was Jog,and then towards Honnavar , we did not take the Jog road just passed through that bridge as we wanted cross the Ghats before it get dark.on the way passed through along stretch of paddy fields lush green and full with water that's all we wanted from this ride.Reached Honnavar at 5:30 and we decided to stay in the nearest hotel as we were tired and it was risky riding with tired eyes on NH 17.Here are some images.

Awesome Suresh Upadya.
Very calm and fast ride.
And cool monsoon pics. Either I am seeing you in action after long time or you have made up some big plans.

I am also planning to go to Gokarna-Honnavar at time of Independence day, guess you an help me with route options.
Seems Haveri-Sirsi-Gokarna route is messed up. So I was thinking to take Shimoga-Sagar route.
How are the road conditions and how are the rains in Bangalore-Shimoga-Honnavar-Gokarana route?? Any messed up roads??
And you also mentioned you avoided Jog road, can tell which road did you took, would love to do that. How are the shacks for staying in Gokarana??
Thanks

Hi Saquib,
Thank you.All the roads except a few stretch of about 10-15 kms in the entire stretch was bad .The ones I remember is about 10 kms before Kundapur is really bad that is tarmac is absolutely absent. Then after Mangalore about 5-10 kms is bad. All other roads are awesome. We were blessed with best weather with few drizzles of 5-10 mins there was no rain to my surprise when I reached Honnavar I could see sunshine something very rare in mid monsoon in coastal as I am basically from coastal region. We took the Blore-Shimoga-Sagar-Jog-Honnavar route. When I mean we avoided Jog we did go to falls. The road after Jog is very narrow so b careful while climbing down tarmac is absolutely perfect condition in that road.We stayed in Honnavar, just at the junction of Honnavar Jog road there about 3 hotels including one Kamat where we had dinner. They charged 750 and was reasonably good.

Thanks,
Suresh
