Iam glad you like reading about our rides. To the best of my knowledge and I think you are correct in mentioning, there is no blue colour Ninja 650 on offer. I must ask Mahesh about this. Mahesh also rides a kick-ass Yamaha R1.

      More to come!

        Re: Day Rides

This set of pictures are from two separate rides.

The first one was a ride to Lavasa where we experienced the first rains. As we reached the entrance to Lavasa city, the rain began in earnest, so we took shelter at a small roadside restaurant. Many other riders who were also out for the day had similar ideas so we all ended up here eating breakfast and sipping tea. After much introduction and bon homie for one hour we began the return leg. It was nice to catch up with Anirudh who is also a Triumph Bonneville rider with whom I had met briefly on the highway, whilst riding to Goa in May. The weather was dry once we descended from the hills, so we decided to test ride the Triumph Daytona 675R.

The second ride was to Panchgini for a breakfast run to Rustoms Strawberry Inn which lies between Panchgini and MAPRO. The day was beautiful being overcast but not raining which made for ideal riding conditions. The twisties going up into the hills were devoid of traffic with temperatures dipping rapidly past each turn we took. We reached the restaurant fairly early and devoured "Akuri" (Parsi delicacy made of eggs), cutlets, Tea & strawberry milkshake. We also had some eggs & cutlets parcelled to take back home which were put into the bonneville saddlebags. Breakfast finished we made a quick dash to MAPRO to pick up strawberry's as well. Here, my bike tipped over as it was badly parked (too straight) on the uneven road. Thankfully, the frame sliders kicked in to do their job magnificently, so damage was limited to only the bent frame slider. We reached home and were in for another jolt - the eggs, cutlets & strawberry's were a liquid mess squelching around in the saddlebags. Ugh! Lesson learnt, no more parcel service - those who want exotic breakfasts can jolly well make the ride!

Believe me when I tell you each ride is unique even though many a times we often ride the same routes. It is the journey that counts and not the destination.

This set of pictures are way back from Jan when I was running-in the Ninja. On one of the rides I caught up with Rohan Monga and his buddies who were heading to Goa all the way from Delhi for the India Bike Week. I introduced myself to these passionate bikers who then rode on to fulfil their destinies. I recall over that week it was exhilarating to be out in the mornings and watching numerous bikes heading for IBW. The other pictures are random pictures taken over a three week period at the time.

                Re: Day Rides

These pictures are from last Sunday's morning ride to Lavasa. Fortunately there was no rain but the weather was humid. We switched bikes for a brief period till the turn off at Pirangut. There were a lot of bikes out making the most of the dry weather and the weekend. The road condition is relatively decent despite all the heavy rain that we have had over the last couple of months. It was good to see Mulshi lake full with water. My feedback on the Bonneville is that it has loads of power which engages early and right through the rev band till around 5000 RPM. The brakes are top notch. Exciting stuff!

This set of pictures got left out from the earlier post of the ride to Goa in May.

                  Re: Day Rides

This set of pictures is from a weekend ride to Bhor ghat to celebrate our friend and mentor Anji Mehra's 74th birthday. We began late on Saturday at around 10:30am and proceeded to Shivapur toll plaza where we regrouped for a quick snack of vadapao (excellent) and tea. Sherman joined us here from Mumbai. We were a total of 9 off which 3 were in the car (Anji, Asheesh & Yash). We then proceeded to Wai where we fueled up and then took the back roads to Bhor. This stretch of road was an amazing discovery which offered great tarmac coupled with twisties. We spent a fair amount of time taking pictures including chasing a snake (Viper) off the road and into the bushes. We then stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and ate scrumptious chicken fry, dal & rotis. After a rather heavy meal we rode to Manassarovar Resort http://www.manassarovar.com/ the destination for our overnight stay. The evening was great fun and filled with laughter, antics and brotherhood. We woke up late the next morning and after breakfast at the resort we left for Pune reaching home by lunch time and riding a soul satisfying 250km.

                          Re: Day Rides

This set of pictures was from a ride to Wai that we did about a month back. More often than not we begin our morning rides during this season with overcast skies and sadly hit rain on the return leg a few hours later.

Last weekend we rode to Lonavala for breakfast and picked up some chocolate walnut fudge (melted in my tank bag but fortunately) didn't make a mess. We then stopped at the Kawasaki showroom on the return leg where we checked out the Z1000, Ninja 1000, ZX10R & ZX14R. The ZX10 is a sweet bike weighing in at just 200kg, which is only 30kg heavier than the Ninja 300 and around 30kg lighter than the Bonneville (some engineering marvel I say). Out of the bikes we checked out, I liked the Ninja 1000 as it was more relaxed and suitable for long rides, though the ZX10 makes one feel like a rock star, I sorely missed being 20 years younger. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures!

You can not shed 20 years from your life but your spirit is that of a 20 year old must say. Even I am 30 and wish I had got my back some 7-8 years back but that is not possible at all ever. Better enjoy what is ahead of us!

                                Re: Day Rides

This set of pictures was from last weekend's ride to Kasara Ghat near Igatpuri to celebrate our friend Sherman's birthday. Sherman is an avid biker and is presently engaged in making a documentary on motorcycling in India. I set out with JP (http://www.motomonks.com)and Pravin for the ride to Kasara leaving late at 2pm on Saturday and proceeded towards Malshej ghat. The road from Nasik phata to Narayangaon is a busy highway which is mostly a two-lane road. We stopped for lunch before Narayangaon and crossed Malshej Ghat which was super in terms of tarmac, twisties, fog and rain. We then had to cross over from NH222 to AH47 (aka NH3) which was about 70km of potholes and slush. This was in the dark with continuous rain. Our going was slow and the ride was harsh. I was never more happy to see the AH47 till now. We then reached Sherman's place at 10pm. On the return leg we took a slightly different route to negotiate the off-road portion which was only slightly better but offered some breathtaking scenery which we could appreciate since we left at noon. We encountered the evening rush-hour traffic and reached home at 7.30pm. This ride encompassed a whole range of experiences from good and bad roads, rain, humid heat, comical situations, test of our perseverance and endurance levels, riding skills and most of all brought us all closer together as buddies.
