  • [Photo Feature]: Mana and Malari Uttrakhand.

Went to the very interiors of Uttarakhand. Rode to Mana and Malari this time.

Mana visited by several but still few people, I thought to give a visit this time. Then went to Malari situated in the Dhauli Ganga valley in the Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve. Beautiful calm unexplored place. Couldnt go any further though due to time restrictions and diwali up ahead. Reached back home yesterday doing only Mana and Malari. Also detoured Auli too.

So here are few pics and will post the complete travelogue later. Hope you'll love the other unseen side of Uttarakhand...make you love Uttarakhand even more. Cheers !!

                    Re: Mana and Malari Uttarakhand.

So ill keep the t'log simple and straight. No shit about how i was full of this and that and in order to take it out i break my cage and fled to freedom.

So 17th October it was. A day prior i had all my belongings and necessities packed. My ride was the Hero Impulse. I bought the steed on 29th April 2014. Since then i had done a Gangotri trip and with 6000 kms it was good to go. Changed the oil and got it serviced. Although during servicing the stock air filter was a bit clogged. But the manual stating a change interval of 15000 kms i cleaned it with pressurized air and plonked it back in.

                    THINGS I CARRIED :

Clothes : A cargo that i wore and a spare in the bag. Shirts etc and couple of thermals too(as the weather forecast stated a max of 14degrees and a min of 2-3degrees. And my riding jacket Cramster was equipped with the rain and the woolen liner (saved me from some great amount cold). So three to five clothes were all tucked in a back pack.

Spares : Carried a spare rear tube along just in case i witness a puncture. A pump (hand operated air pump), few spanners that might assist me in carb or puncture or Splug related issues.
Medication : Its a must. Had my own prepared first aid box with few necessary things. Tucked that in too. All in my back pack.

So saddle bags were not necessary so i theywere put aside. Travelling light is a delight...and a couple of more things were accommodated in my tank bag. So next morning 6am i set off from my home Dehradun to Joshimath.

                    DAY 1 : Dehradun-Rishikesh-Srinagar-Rudraprayag-Karnaprayag-Gauchar(chamoli)-Joshimath [300kms]

Route from Dehradun to Joshimath gets a little interesting around Devprayag where Alkananda and Bhagirathi (the two tributaries of Ganga) confluence can be seen.

Heading post Devprayag comes Srinagar the scenery from Dehradun to Gauchar is fine. Mountains and roads that run by the river. Roads are pretty broad and easy 45-50 kmph is manageable in twists, thus giving a nice mile munching capability in a particular time. So reaching and doing 300 kms in one day all mountains was looking a litle hard was do-able in a day. Thanks to the nice broad NH-58. I reached Joshimath at 4:30pm. Checked into a hotel for 200rs per day. Halted there for an hour or so...untied all the luggage and went out for a local Joshimath market walk.

The road form Gauchar to Joshimath is pretty interesting thhe road becomes more broad and overhanging mountains and 15-20 kms before reaching Joshimath one can easily spot the snow
laden mountains. Which yeah....seriously gives you a drive from within.

                            DAY 2: Joshmath-Auli-Joshimath-Badrinath-Mana

So the day started with a pleasant morning in the mountains amid snow capped peaks and freeing cold and a bright clear sunny day. It couldnt have got any better. So with breakfast done i had to head out to Auli 16kms away from Joshimath. With narrow roads Joshimath to Auli is surrounded by Army cantt and army personnels and with a mild steep twisting gradient to Auli of 16 kms was done within half an hour.

The peaks were visible more clearly and upclose.

Himalayan Eagle soaring high and wicked over the Himalayas preying.

The Hathi Parvat : Its said that it resembles the hump of an elephant.

Ropeway station at GMVN [Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam] Auli. Didnt took the ropeway although they charge a minimal 300rs. I trekked up the mountain. Was more fun this way.
