Thanks. That shop is located within the Mana village. One has to walk through the village for half a km. Its a half an hour deal max.

Ohh...Joshimath to Mana is 50kms approx. Very doable. Nice roads half way. Roads are open too...and as per snowfall, Mid-late november is the time when it snows. People although have started to migrate to lower areas. But it will be fine i guess.
Go id say. Best of luck pal.

              Re: Mana and Malari Uttrakhand.

Malari for the Day 3 its was.

Will keep the brief and informative now. Malari is a very unexplored place and tucked deep into the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve its a world heritage site. Very secluded and quite placed away with the usual crowd and daily hustle and bustle. Roads to Malari are bad, loose gravel and landslides all the way. Lies almost around the Indo-China border with perennial snow capped peaks. Joshimath to Malari is a scenic ride. Not one of those usual mountain roads but very ladakh-ish it is. High at 10000+ft with low on oxygen one can see less trees....sandy terrains etc. ot dark. Malari is situated just above the valley of Dhauli Ganga at an altitude of 10,000 feet from the mean sea level. Residents are the Bhotias and the life i s hard at this naturally beautiful place with low crops and seasonal migration and all. I also got to know that the village committee had established a mini-micro hydro-electrical generating unit, which is sole provider of electricity for the entire village. The villagers who have electricity connections are charged a nominal fee of Rs.20 per month. The total capacity of the hydro-electrical unit is 45 KW. By the time we had to leave....we saw villagers taking their cattle and the food crops and their belongings on a pickup truck back to lower areas for the winters.

That was Malari for me. Nice and very unexpected, very small village with 300 odd houses and 800-1000 people max. Calm and secluded area with wooden houses and slated roofs (chaani/chaan aka in Uttarakhand). Very unexplored and beautiful place to be in once in a while. Ive decided wo be back to Malari soon.

Simply putting down the pics to Malari.

This is why I pray for my father's transfer to pithoragarh, I'm dumbfounded looking at these pics. Sounds like Garhwal exploration is almost over, what do you think about exploring kumaoun being a kumaoni? I know, "ghar ki murgi dal barabar" still I'd love to see a log on those neglected beautiful places.

Mountains are dear to me and so is Uttarakhand. Mainstream garhwal is over but the unexpolored garhwal is still left to be seen. And I will do Kumaon soon.

Any difficulties refueling? Stations must have been far & few at those heights, I assume.

Naah no refueling difficulties whatsoever. The 150cc mill was very economic and after reaching Joshimath i made it the central point, next day morning i refueled at joshimath and set off to Mana which is 50kms approx. So 100-120kms to and fro was easily doable. Them came back to joshimath spent the night and the next norning refueled again and to Malari 130-140kms to and fro. Came back to joshimath again.
