No problems for resuming so late! We'll be eagerly waiting for the log to be completed.

      Re: My Touring Diary

There's a very strange thing about roadtrips. No matter how much you try, you can't sleep a night before you start the roadtrip. It happened with us. After half an hour we began, we entered Himachal Pradesh and that is where our body started showing the symptoms of stress.

After half an hour nap and glucose candies, we continued and reached Shimla around 10 in the morning. Had bread omlet and the regular kadak chai to prevent lazyness. From there we continued our journey. The roads were in good condition with very less potholes. By afternoon we reached Rampur. Its a small town, you can find quite ok food at reasonable prices. Width of road kept on decreasing as we approach further. Took a halt before entering Kinnaur district.

Just after we had lunch and moved further, we encountered a landslide. A lot of thoughts began to run in our mind regarding destination, the amount of time and days we have in our hand. But to our surprise the patch got clear in 30 minutes. Thank God !

Quickly resumed our journey, the roads started becoming worse now. The road was uneven and full of stones and sand. A stone hit my bike's gear pedal and it got bend. Becomes really difficult to shift gears. After 3 hours we reached Karrcham Dam.

So after reaching Karrcham Dam we head towards Sangla, my fellow biker friend's pulsar exhuast's allen key became loose and came out. We had the right tool to fix it but another nut was missing , it was getting dark. No signs of mechanic anywhere. Found one in Sangla but it was shut down till then. We then found a welding shop. I would like to special mention his name - Babloo, and thank him for helping us out, he weld that allen key to the exhaust and it never came out then.

We then resumed our ride to Chitkul and it was getting more dark. Just before 6-7 kms before reaching Chitkul we came across a Bullet 350, stranded outside the military station, we enquired about it from the officer on duty and got to know that two bikers from Gurgaon were on their way and the tyre went flat and they had gone to Sangla on their another bike to fix it up. We thought of waiting for them, in case they need any help, we can help them out. So after waiting for half an hour in the dark they reached there. They were so happy to see that we were waiting to help them. It really feels very good when you see smile on somebody's face in that kind of situation. It always bring positive energy. Those guys were struggling to fix puncture since 12 in the noon. First the air valve got leaked, then their pressure pump went kaput and then then they had to go to Sangla to get it fixed.

I would also like to mention special thanks to the army officer on duty who looked after their bike even when his duty time was over. They quickly fixed the tyre on the bike and we moved forward. Reached Chitkul around 9:30 PM. Had dinner and slept.

So the next day we woke up at 7 AM , got ready and rode it from there around 8 AM. We first went till the last point of the village till civilians were allowed.

So after riding for one and a half hour we moved towards reckong peo , we hardly encountered local people on the road. We went on a wrong way which wasted about half an hour but we quickly got on to right path and reached reckong peo. Reckong peo is a really nice place, the food was awesome. Never had such kind of Mint butter masala in my life. The restaurant name is Little Chef. If anyone of you visit Reckong Peo, I definitely recommend this place.

Then after having a heavy lunch we moved towards Kalpa. It's a small village about 30-40 kms from Reckong Peo. We went there to have a look at the very famous suicide point. We couldn't click pics as we would want to as the winds were really very strong and unfortunately very few pics which were clicked from a friend's iphone got deleted :/
After Kalpa we started riding back towards Rampur. After a tiring day, found a decent hotel. Got a room for Rs. 650 for a night. Quickly had dinner and slept.
