Hello,

This post might be old one but still wanted to share with you the details of the bike trip that we took from Delhi to Rameshwaram this October 2014.
Following are some of the details of our ride:
Riders: Nitin Pal Singh(Bullet Electra UCE 350); Pradeep Reddy (Yamaha R15); both working in Gurgaon
Total Kms: 6800Kms
Route Taken :
Going South : Delhi>>>Udaipur>>>Vapi>>>Belgaum>>>Bangalore>>>Mad urai>>>Rameshwaram (End-Point - Dhansuhkodi)
Returning North: Rameshwaram>>>Kodaikanal>>>Mysore>>>hubli dharwad>>>Pune>>>Vadodara>>>Chittaurgarh>>>Delhi

The October month is the most important one looking from Riders' prespective, we started our journey on 4th October from Delhi. My friend and I met in front of Ambience Mall, Gurgaon and started our journey at 7:00am.

Travelogue Approved.

NitinPalSingh What a huge trip you guys had! Congratulations.... And the pics are nice... I saw the video of the Pamban bridge. Beautiful place indeed...
Eagerly awaiting more pics.

And yes, the Jaipur-Delhi route is bad. The Ajmer to Jaipur is nice though.

Sorry for the late reply guys.......
to continue........

Inception of the trip -

We started making plans for this trip around Feb 2014 and kept asking many friends who can join us. Obviously, there were many people pouring in at that point, some even laughed at us saying that this is not achievable. Still, we initiated our plans by applying for leaves for 2 weeks in October around in June 2014.
Now came September, we started looking for the interested friends, many of which backed out.......only 3 were left in the end.
Anyways, we went ahead to purchase saddle bags, gloves, touring and medical kits....... 1 week was left.
The date to commence the journey was finalized to 4th October......on 2nd Oct., one more backed out...........now the question whether we 2 should go or cancel the plan altogether.
Me and my friend decided to go anyways and see that how the things go........
Pradeep has Yamaha R15 and I have Bullet.........
Let the pictures speak:

We reached Udaipur by 6:30PM.....this day was very boring as it was mostly straight roads and no hills......the roads were empty as well.....we took the hotel.

Next Day - 5th Oct - Destination to Reach - Palghar (instead had to put up at Vapi)
this day, we never thought we would have to travel longest and the day was the hottest one.... the National Highway Expressway between Ahmedabad and Surat does not allows Bike to travel so we had to take NH8(that portion is longer and under-construction)......
Snap@Drink Break - as the weather was hot, we preferred liquids rather than main course, this saved us time as well....

The terrain starts changing when we entered Maharastra...the weather is good....and reaching Pune was fun...

To continue further......

6th Day - 9th October - Madurai to Rameshwaram

Since the distance to be travelled was approx 150 kms, we decided to get our bikes serviced. Madurai is nice town with nice people, we got our bike serviced earlier after requesting and telling them about our journey. We started from Madurai around afternoon, the weather in Madurai is very hot plus the humidity also takes toll.
During our 5 min break, a family from Vijaywada stopped and took some pictures, they were also excited to hear our journey, AuntyG offered us biscuits....which were home-made and we can't resist.....

When you are near the Pamban Bridge, you start getting an awesome feel, the ocean starts appearing and then the Pamban Bridge comes......
Pamban Bridge is 2 kms long bridge connecting Mainland India to Pamban Island

Rameshwaram is 10 kms ahead of the Pamban Bridge. We put up at a hotel in there. Next day, we knew would be an awesome one.

7th Day - 10th October - Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi (Ram Setu)
We both were very excited that today we would reaching our final destination and after that the journey would be only backwards.
The paved road is just 8-10 kms and after that the Beach area starts which is 15-16 kms(total beach drives) and you can only go by 4X4 SUV or the local jeeps/taxis, anyways, we were lucky, we had our bikes with us.

Just notice in above and below pics, the water's nature is different, on one side, the ocean is very loud and the other side is very calm. The water seems to be actually blessed by Ramji to remain calm.
