PROLOGUE

As I mentioned earlier, my last ride was way back in July'14. I was already itchinng for ride but professional life ad other personal commmitments did keep me away. 2015 came in, with the new year came in the holiday list for the year. I was elated to find out most of the holidays this year would be either on friday or monday which meant extended weekends which meant short rides.

The first of such extended weekend was our 26th Jan, our Republic day. I thought of utilizing the weekend. Also I had a pending comp-off which could turn it into a 4 day weekend. So, the decision was made but the destination wasn't finalised. Now I begun to ponder over whether to explore the plains of Rajasthan or to go into hills. I shared my idea with some of my freinds but none were interested. The reasons varied from work, no leaves to personal reason etc. I saw this oppertunity to go for my first solo ride.. But..........

The next job was to decide the destination This would have been my first solo ride so wanted to keep it a little easy so as not to overstress myself. I was going through some other touring forums when it stuck me " why not go in search of snow . I had seen a lot of pictures of snow capped mountains and they had their own charm.Now i started my rresearch as to which place would hae snow that time.. I found Kufri would hae a lot So destination locked.....Kufri would be the destination for my my first solo annd snowy ride. The next day's sunshine had brought a surprise for me along. Next day I got a call from Yash, asking me the details of the ride like destination, days etc. Yash is one of the few freinds with whom I shared the idea of the ride. He denied then but then called back on saturday confirming his participation. Now we were two riders ready to rumble. But Yash had a condition that we go somewhere in Uttarakhand so that he doesn't has to take a leave from work. He had some official work in Dehradun. After he was done with his work in Doon, we could carry on with the ride. I would have prreferred HP but even Uttarahand was fine with me as far as i got snow.We did some research and fund that someplace above Mussoorrie might have snow. So we decided to visit Dhanaulti. I wanted the ride to be relaxing - no point rushing, we planned to book a hotel before leaving from Delhi so that we don''t have to search around for a place to stay incase we got late.So we started searchhig for budget hotels online. All this took some time. That was when Pawan(@pawagreat) called in to confirm that hhe was willing to join us. Voilla. I planned on going alone and now we were 3 riders teamed up together for the ride to our " Quest for snow". So it was all set. :

Yash riding Yamaha FZ.
Destination : Mussoorie -> Dhanaulti
Days : 23/24/25 Jan (Fri to Sun)


So the wait for the D-day began.Though it was less than a week but still it was getting difficult to wait. Somehow we reached the day when we would ride on to happiness.

Day 1 : Mussoorie
We reached Dehradun by around 11:30 am and stopped over for breakfast cum lunch before proceeding further. Meanwhile Mukul also completed his official work. It was good,1 hour hault, we filled our tummy before moving. This was where our destination changed from Dhanaulti to Chakrata. We were talking to a local guy who informed us that Dhanaulti won't have snow that time but Chakkrata might have some. So that was it, Dhanaulti cancelled, Chakrata was on. We reached Mussoorie by 2 pm. We already had booking in a hotel, so checked in and relaxed. My initial thought was to relax a bit after the exhaustive ride but the mesmerizing view of the hills from our room drove away all the exhaustion. Everytime I visit any hill station, i feel so that I should settle down there. The life in a hill station is so simple yet intriguing. Fresh air, no pollution,no hurry to reach work, no traffic, no worries, people earn less, are less ambitious yet they are happy. Why can't we be so happy inspite of living in a metro city and earning good and after having so many facilities. All three of us had some tea and snacks and freshened up and started to discuss what should we do for the rest of the day. It was finalised that we should invest the time to visit Kempty falls so that we could have more time to enjoy the scenic hilly views enroute Chakrata.

We returned from Kempty falls by 6 pm, it was already dark. Another view from our room left us spell bound. The hills, either in morning or evening looks so beautiful that the onlookers fall in love with the view. Below is an example:

Day 2 : 24th January,2015


We checked out from our hotel by 11 am. The target was toreah Chakrata asap and go for snow. But we were in no hurry, we decided to take a lot of photo breaks so as to capture the natura beauty in the lenses and also to feel the beauty. The beauty can be seen inn the following pics.
