      Re: Harsil Uttarakhand

It was very rainy for the day II. With overcast Mori in the morning with a cup of tea we set off for Uttarkashi. And with 10 kms on the ODO a light drizzle turned into heavy rainfall. With a couple of more kms of riding in rains we finally found a roadside shed. We parked our bikes aside (no shed for them), thus took the liggage down and rushed ourselves in the shed. With nut chilling winds blowing across and damp clothes it wasnt a pleasent feeling afterall.

With rains and thunderstorms it wasnt going to stop anytime soon...so stranded we decided to sit there and lit some fire. With chir pine jungles around we headed out in rains to fetch us some wood. And with all we could carry we brought thick logs and a petrol soaked cloth and set fire a-going. The rains had us stranded for 3-4 hours or so. Finally setting of for Uttarakashi we reached by 5-6pm. And next day to Harsil it had to be.

Fire: The yardstick of civilization. Kept us warm and thus helped us dry our damp gloves and pants.

And 4 hours later when the sky cleared and clouds gave way to the sun at Mori-Purola road. It was majestic.

            Re: Harsil Uttarakhand

Sorry for carrying forward the travelogue this late. Finally concluding with the last stretch to Harsil from Uttarkashi. Morning departing from Uttarakashi was beautiful and 90kms more to go from there was Harsil. Home to me and an yearly ritual and the Hrasil remnant to me i rode ahead. Carrying on with riding for about 60+kms I reached Sukhi top and approaching the top we encountered snow again on the road. Terrian started to get more tough and roads with snow on the turf made a lil tricky to fight through. So with steady pace and cautious riding we headed further into the mountains gaining height and finding oursleves surrounded with vistas one beautiful than the other. Harsil always dear and near to me will witness a visit again from my side the next year. maybe this time in more of seclusion amid core winters.
            Cheers !!

Some remote areas are simply too awesome. Thanks to the land of gods and the pilgrimage the roads and areas are well provided with stalls and shops around. Food etc is easily available. But things are not so good around winters as they migrate to lower lands. May-Nov is the best time !
