Re: Xbhp Bbsr Ride In Search Of Peace

Last year, one of friend visited the Tibetan Monastery in Chandragiri valley. since then I had made up my mind that, ill too visit the Monastery. All I had to do is search nearby places for more sightseeing or historical option and road trip is on. Again Google map is the best thing to look for, in such scenario.

From the very beginning 4 riders were confirmed and that make things very easy to coordinate. Initially the plan was to visit Chandragiri and ride through 2 Ghats road of 200km long that's between south Odisha Eastern Ghats range & R Udayagiri Range and the 2nd one is Mahendragiri. All this in one day! As it was like 650km long route, night halt was needed. Then I added Taptapani and Khasada waterfall. As the trip extended by 1 day, Sajal Bhai then added Gudguda waterfall & Gandhahati waterfall. Three of the biker will on duke 390 and 200. As there was a gap of 260km between the petrol pump, we were bit sceptical about the route. While I was searching for another petrol pump in between the route, I found the closest one in Parlakhemundi. At the same time Google map also showed a Palace of Gajapathi Dynasty nearby. With greed I also added that up. That's it no-more the route is set now.

As usual, few hiccup were there at the start of the trip. Sambit's Cbr250 needed shim replacement. Which made us wait for more than a week and then the servicing was done only the day before the start of road trip. So on 20th Jan Sambit call me up in evening and said that he won't be able to ride tomorrow. Was tad disappointed but it will never be a good idea to forcefully ride a newly serviced engine for that longer period. Few hours later Sambit again contacted me and asked "can I bring a car and ride with you guys". I was like why the hell not. I mean he has given loads of time last week, for all these planning. Moreover we can use it as backup car. On this, Sambit said "ITS A NANO!". I was like, what the f#@!! . No Problem buddy bring it on.

My bad forgot to introduce my fellow bikers. Alphabetically with their ride.

LOL. Even I was Skeptical about the Nano at first doing those Ghats and Bad roads. But Sandeep was extremely confident of his ride. I thought- OK, lets do it- lets test the Indian Engineering. And it fared well all through except those 18 Kms of Off Roading, where we slowed you down by atleast 45 Mins or so. Fact is, you cannot ride any car on those stretches at more than 10Kmph. Tires/Suspension would go for a toss.

It was over half an hour & Sajal Bhai was yet to reach. Here the point of discussion was, who has which service and why we are paying the damn tariff. when we are not able to call someone, even if we are just standing 100-200 meters above the sea level.

We were just about to go back to search him, Sajal bhai finally joined us. With all that frequent stop and ride due to fog. He thought he was in front of the pack, while it was not the case. He stopped before the mountain at a shop thinking that he will stop us for breakfast. But 4 bikes crossed him falling to recognise each other. As the cell phone was not working he ate his breakfast while waiting for us and on the mountain top we were getting worried each minutes.

we ate our breakfast at 10:30AM. 4 Puri, 1 Wada & Pea nut curry only 20/-

Filled up our bike at the last petrol pump.

                        A bit about Taptapani:-

From the name Taptapani you guys can clearly understand that "Tapta" means hot and "pani" is water. It's situated above 1800ft of sea level.
The hot water from the natural spring of Taptapani are attributed with medicinal properties and can be bathed in at the pond created next to the hot spring. The hot spring is situated at the eastern slope of the eastern ghat at a crest of the hill within the lush green forest having wide range of flora and fauna. Since Panthanivas [govt run hotel] is the only hotel at Taptapani, we decided to have lunch in it.

Finally reached Panthanivas at 1PM. We ordered the lunch and went to Taptapani which was 100 meter up the hill.

On entering the temple I saw four huge trees. I got bit curious and asked the senior citizen on right hand side of the screen, sitting on a chair and selling diyas. He started a story from Satya-yug to kal-yug. Man all i asked is “what's the name of tree”.

Since i heard the flash back story, hence the black & white pic

One has to climb up the hill in order to reach the restaurant.

Guys we have to click food from now on, as Im only giving the menu and bill and no food is begin served on travelogue page.
Only veg option was available. Rice, Dal, Mix Veg, 6 Chilly Mushrooms, Mix vegetable fried chips, Green Salad, Papad all this for only 1250/- so per head its was like 140/- bucks only. We all agree on this, that it was soul satisfying food.

Fully recharged after the awesome lunch.
