Re: Xbhp Bbsr Ride In Search Of Peace

At 3pm we left Panthanivas and continued our journey. The road was on very bad condition. The section mark on red was the worst. New road was being laid on and driving around 1km on ballast was not easy. We were touch lucky that on side of road we got some dirt road trail. Fully faired R15 and Nano struggled a bit.

After finishing that red marked road. 13 KM to be exact. We took a breather to re-gather our self.

Janak Bhai was doing his maiden road trip. After crossing that rough road his hand got bit numb. As we were stretching and talking to each other, he started doing his inclined push up. Must say this is unique way to pump blood flow in body.

    A bit about Tibetan Monastery:-

In 1963, about 600 Tibetan refugees arrived in the south-western Orissa hill country of Gajapati, in a fertile valley known as Chandragiri. It seems an unlikely spot to run into Tibetans, what with our being a long thousand kilometres from Tibet, as the kingfisher flies.

Those first refugees arrived here in the early 1960s after fleeing into exile with the Dalai Lama, following the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959. The Indian government resettlement program for refugees established a number of camps around India; today the refugees number between 110,000 and 120,000 all over the country.

Tibetan refugees in India. Even those born here do not have Indian citizenship; some have residence permits which must be renewed yearly, while others, especially those who arrived in a second wave in 1979 have only identity cards which restrict their movement and other freedoms.

P.s we didnt got any tea not even the Indian ones

We got the first glimpse of Monastery.

Finally we reach the Monastery at 4:45PM. This a guest house inside monastery complex. And this is the only option for accommodation.

The water was really low. The picture we saw on web is mostly after or in the rainy season. Never the less it was a good place to visit.

. To be honest these wild cats does give me goose bump . So we also took a straight and shorter route. Cutting down the actual road distance by 20 km.

Hash we call it a day.

I must have to say that the guest house is a big one and kind of spooky too. Though the security guard sat just behind the house all day long. But at night other than us no was there inside the house. The first floor has 6 rooms. We saw a big dining table but sadly no cook or breakfast option was there.

We first went to Buddha temple as the monastery was yet to open.

Their homes and alleyways are spotless; roads are paved better here than anywhere for hundreds of kilometres. They raise livestock and grow maize for export beyond the community, and one local cooperative grows plantations of mangos for a juice factory. Illiteracy, malnutrition and other indicators of systemic poverty are lower here.

Om Mani Padme Hum .....[you say this and rotate the wooden thing]
Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect. It is often carved into stones, and placed where people can see them.

Re: Xbhp Bbsr Ride In Search Of Peace

Hey guys some nice tour and photography.

Now let me give you all a surprise. I had been to same place on 4th of january. We had gone on our branch picnic. The place where i am posted is 120 kms from that place.

We had taken a bus and our branch Marshall jeep. I, the driver cum owner, my colleague, cook and all the cooking items were taken in the Marshall.

The road that you have shown as amazing state highway starts from place known as DIGAPAHANDI.

The road deteriorates through the start of ghats and after Taptapani, it was hell breaking loose. From TAPTAPANI till a place called as LUHAGODI, the roads are horrible.

When we had gone the previous night it had rained hard. The road was in such bad shape that the Marshall chassis was scraping ground. You can imagine what would have happened to the Nano.

But the thing was that our marshall was loaded and really the tough construction helped. While other cars were going at 10 kph as you have said our marshall was flying at 50-60 kph. No worry for potholes or anything. And i also drove it for some way and what torque, climbing the ghats effortlessly.

While returning it got night. After chandragiri till digapahandi, it is maoist area, and you can see the whole road is dense jungle with no help for 50-60 kms.

The Bus went on its way, while another staff and family had come on an Indigo, they asked us to be with them. We got completely as on bad roads we used to fly, but the Indigo was jotting at 10-20 kph. So we had to brake a lot.

The marshall standing on river bed. Would like to mention that previous night it had rained. So while climbing back in the incline behind the rear wheel got stuck. But the torque just kept the wheel spinning and we just climbed on rear portion to give it traction and it pulled out. Had to pull out many winger, Innova and bolero.

We had our breakfast. Puri, wada, Curry & sweet bill was like 30/- bucks.

Drove through some lovely ghat roads. To be honest temp is now more than comfortable level.

Sajal Bhai and Satya went ahead. After taking rest for few mins we went after them but they were far ahead. We found a small friend name Deepak, who was also going to the waterfall agreed to lead us there.
Boy o boy he was just wearing a slipper and was flying over these rocks. He was kind enough to wait for us.

Reached your parked bikes. Finished all the water bottles we had. Now it was time to search for food and next on list is Gandhahati waterfall. It was already 1pm. We had already decided that if we came out of Gandhahati water fall by 2pm we will continue with original plan of Mahendragiri or else we will reroute again

This time I managed to click my food. Its quite unique & for first time I was eating on such paper. It is call banana paper.

I was screaming to them why the hell we are driving like this we are already 16km ahead. Thankfully map was working call the guys behind us they were waiting for us at the turn.

Way to Ghandhahati Waterfall. Ghandha mean smelly hati means elephant. To our forefathers. Why on earth you have to name a waterfall on smell of elephant, you guys just can give the name elephant waterfall. Never mind.

As we reroute through palasa there is a stretch of 9 km road marked with red, which was the most torturous road. There was section of 4km with ballast only. We somehow managed to cross it.

Refuelled our bikes for one last time. Then we went straight to home with occasional stop at interval of 50-60 km.

                        Trip expenses:-

                        Fuel 1350
                        night stay 300
                        food & water = 490
