People, I need a little help. My parents are not allowing me to leave without proper safety gear. Hence need some guidance here.
What will a basic jacket cost and where can I find it in Delhi ?
Do I need anything else besides jacket ? How important are knee pads and stuff ?

While I am writing about it, I will be starting the northern tour in a couple of days from now. In the name of prep, I have got good thermal clothes, gloves. Do I need anything else for places like Badrinath, Kaza, Leh etc. ?


Also, this double post is sooper irritating. What am I doing wrong here ?

Well a basic good riding jacket will cost you around 4k. Since you are planning to to Himalayas i would suggest to to go for dsg nero jacket.

An Update - After a 1 month tour of Uttarakhand, I am in back in Ghaziabad to attend a friend's wedding and some other work. I leave for Himachal, Ladakh & Kashmir on 23rd of June (for a couple of months i am hoping). Unfortunately, in Uttarakhand, I was not accompanied by my partner, hence no selfie stick & good photographs. This also meant more thrill & philosophy. I consider myself sooper lucky that the bike didn't give up even once during these 3500km (perhaps the excellent roads of Uttarakhand were a reason).

You had asked about some safety gears .. i guess you must go get yourself some good jackets / gloves and decent shoes / riding boots . and also its always safe to wear a full face helmet.. you can even browse on net to buy riding gears

People, I need help on bike maintenance. After some rough riding in Uttarakhand, the bike is making funny noises. Since I know nothing about bikes, the only thing I can say is that the sound is coming from engine. Should I get it checked at Royal Enfield service center or some seasoned veteran Bullet Mechanic? Does someone know a good mechanic in Ghaziabad or Delhi ? I need it to be in sweet condition before I take on the treacherous roads of Spiti & Ladakh :P

If it's under one year, first take it to Royal Enfield service center.
If issue persists, then write to RE customer care.
If issue not taken care of then bombard them with emails.

I sincerely hope that you do not have to go through any such hassle and all issues are fixed by RE service. Good luck

Re riding gears: someome has already suggested you dsg nero jacket, that's useful in rain, chilling & hot weathers. Costs around 6.5K. Don't compromise with jacket. Delhi dealer: moto madness, opp metro pillar 209, west Patel nagar. For Lil cheaper riding gears u should visit arya samaj road, karol bagh. Buy gloves & knee protectors. Pro-biking is a good product on cheaper side. You can also check these on e-commerce sites like amazon & flipkart. Also I saw u guys r using open helmets. I recommend full face helmets.
