Hi Krishna da,
A picturesque and detailed description of the trip you took alone.
I loved the pictures. There is calm sincerity to solo rides is what i feel makes it different than the rest.
Also would you like to point out if you had any problems going alone if any, as it would encourage newbies lIke me to do more?
Regards
Anand

Re: Saagar Kinare - Bakkhali Calling
Aftering checking this post I couldn't restrict myself to post my triplog of feb 2015. Will be posting soon. It was a 400km ride from Kolkata to Gorbetta with one mine very close mate as pillion. Do check for new triplog within few hrs.Originally posted by krishna77 View PostThanks a lot!
I try to cover as much as possible within a short span.
We have everything in Bengal apart from desert. If at least some experiences are shared, it'd be great. West Bengal is virtually unexplored in xBhp.

Re: Saagar Kinare - Bakkhali Calling
Achieved. Now it was turn to get back to home sweet home. Oh! Did I mention that in the meantime I had to answer several calls from my home reassuring them I was fine. So, I took my ride back home.
The ride back home was pretty uneventful. I got down in some places and took some snaps, had tea, had water, took rest for another 5 minutes as the sun was literally frying me as if I were some raw fish and somebody had to prepare me within 20 odd minutes. Also, from the outskirts of Kolkata, got a heavy traffic and all these things combined to contribute 40 odd minutes more than the journey in morning. I was home by 4:45 in the evening.
My bike performed remarkably well. Even after doing so much km.s in a day amidst varying demography, I did not feel any back pain. I only needed rest because of the heat and due to the fact that I was constantly doing between 80-90 kmph. For a 125cc mill, that is nearing the limits. But, my 'Little Tourer' never complained. I even did 15+ km.s more after the I came back home.
There are garages all along the road. Regular police petrol is also there(my guess is they are more for 'collection' purpose than 'protection' purpose).

Re: Saagar Kinare - Bakkhali Calling
The last part. Some tips -
Always carry all the documents of your bike. Don't think that no one is going to check them in such a remote place. Mine got checked. I also saw several SUVs stuck
for not having necessary papers.
Never argue with local people. It may hurt your ego but there is no harm in making small compromises as per situation.
Do not get too friendly with people. People here may be poor but are very simple and down-to-earth but some chaps who try to act smart might not be local at all! They look for easy prey just like any other tourist spot.
There is a police outpost right opposite the WBTDCL lodge. Contact them when in doubt/trouble. But, prevention is better than cure. Isn't it?
Irrespective of how many days you are staying, try to get back withing late afternoon/evening. Not that apocalypse will happen after darkness but roads become completely dark and 7 pm in the countryside is equivalent to 10 pm in the city.
Do fill up from authorized/company owned(a few club HP pumps are there - especially around Diamond Harbour) petrol pumps. There are a lot of pumps selling unadulterated petrol.
Do not get too smitten by the roadside scenery if you don't want to end up being a scenery yourself!
Some stats on MyTracks.
A panorama on the beach
Some Random shots.
Thanks for going through the log. Amen.

Re: Saagar Kinare - Bakkhali Calling
This triplog brings back good memories...I have visited the same place a couple of times (Bakkhali and Henry Island) but with a group of friends in a rented Sumo (we did not have our bikes). This place is great for cheap ilish and crabs (as I found out due to some of my friends who were locals) but slightly expensive and not-too-cold beer
. Plus it was only 100 km away from Joka so it became a default destination of sorts.
