A short trip to Puri, Konark
INTRODUCTION
This travelog is about a short trip to Puri, Konark in Odisha from my native city Kolkata, west bengal.
The trip was done from the period of 3 march 2016 to 5 march 2016
Total kms count was around 1200km.
The whole trip was done by me alone on my bike Yamaha Fzs.
My exams had all ended and almost all the procedure relating to the admission in an MBA college had been completed, So I thought why not take a trip to
Bhubaneshwar to cover the known places Like Satkosia Wildlife forest,Puri, Konark temple. But due to time constraints I could not cover Satkosia but I will
cover the area somewhere in the coming months.
Route itinerary-
The route was quite simple. One needs to take the nh6 towards Mumbai, and follow it up straight till Kharagpur which is approx. 140 Kms from kolkata thereby
after which one needs to take a left turn before entering Kharagpur city. Continuing on the route, one would come across Balasore approx. 150 Kms from Kharagpur.
*( panchlingeshwar) From this point onwards the Highway leads you straight to (180kms from Balasore) Cuttack and from there its twin city Bhubaneshwar.
DAY1:

picture taken at the beginning of the ride by Pratik Khandadia.
The weather was great with over casted clouds but no sign of rain. The roads were fantastic
and did not give me any trouble or discomfort throughout the journey. Bye 2 pm, I reached Bhubaneshwar and took the rest of the day for sleeping. :P
A few pics taken en route:

THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN NEAR PANCHLINGESHWAR, ONE CAN ALSO TRY AND COVER THE SAME ON THE VERY DAY ITSELF.
DAY2:
I had planned to visit Konark Temple and Puri on the same day as they were fairly close to Bhubaneshwar. I had Started my ride
around 9.30am and had continued till 11.30 am to Konark.
| konark temple: a brief history Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century Sun Temple at Konark in Odisha, India. It is believed that the temple was built by king Narasimhadeva I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty around 1250 CE. The temple is in the shape of a gigantic chariot, having elaborately carved stone wheels, pillars and walls. A major part of the structure is now in ruins. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has also featured on various list of Seven Wonders of India. - reference- wikipedia |

Moving on,
I stayed here at Konark Temple till 2 pm after which I started my journey towards Puri hoping to catch the sunset by the sea.
The route to puri from Konark is one of the most blissful roads I have ridden till date. The slaps of the sea across the beach while you ride on the
road adjacent to it, I witnessed the power of infiniteness across the boundaries. After a few kms of KONARK_PURI marine drive,
The road lead into a wild life forest where the trees made a canopy, a sight, a traveller could have never forgotten.
After about 40 minutes I reached Puri and rested for sometime on the beach.
By 6pm I started my journey back to Bhubaneshwar and was back by 7.30 pm.
Here are a few snaps of my time spent in Puri:

Meet Kelvin, he is 63 years old, stays near Konark. Spending his retirement here by riding down the konark puri marine drive everyday.
Now thats a retirement to look forward to.

DAY3:
On day 3 I returned back to Kolkata, met some amazing people, witnessed an architectural beauty, rode along the coast of konark-puri highway and made a new set of memories and cherished experiences. Hoping to do it again

Thank you so much for going through my travel log. I had a great time travelling and compiling this, hope you had a good time too.
