If you do make sure you ride through mudhumalai and bandipur forests. You might have a chance to see elephants, bisons and if you're lucky enough tigers too

Re: Ride into the Jungle - OOTY, Masinagudi.

So lets Start up with Day 2 :

Alarm goes off at 5:30 and i woke up and checked the weather in my phone. It was 17 deg C. This guy kmk is still sleeping inside the warm blanket. Woke him up and pushed him into the washroom literally. Soon we both were ready and packed up for another awesome day. Room Key was handed over and We had a cup of coffee at the aavin shop in kothagiri and off we left to THE JUNGLE - Masinagudi .

                  Day start:

                  She loves posing

                  Beautiful view from kothagiri:

                  Me posing:

Our plan was to Have breakfast at OOTY and then proceed. But when we reached ooty, it was Full of traffic and i dont want to waste time in finding a good hotel there in that traffic. Asked a policeman.. He said Masinagudi is just 30 mins from here and you can have it there.. I really dunno how he said that I was Pushing this guy kmk to hurry up as i heard, you can spot elephants only in the early mornings.. The thing is " Am the Guy, who will forget everything if i ride." and " He is the guy, who will forget everything if he gets hungry". You can imagine what happens when these 2 guys meet in that situation Somehow convinced him and we proceeded Towards Masinagudi..

                  Enroute to Masinagudi :

I was warned about Ooty- Masinagudi road by my friend That its one of the steepest. I didnt take it seriously at the beginning, But as we proceeded we could see several warning about the road ahead.. Many signs warning about the steep ghats and even they have listed the number of accidents and deaths that took place each here. Damn!! these things scared me.. We kept riding and then a Board says Steep Ghat roads starts. It is a downhill ride and you just have to keep the Bike at 2nd gear, the Rpm will shoot to 5k Rpm (On R15) Without giving throttle and added to that Hairpins... Whooo!! one of the Scariest Roads to Ride even in the morning. We couldn't stop there to take pics because the Road is so steep and narrow and if you stop, Youll create traffic jam. Ill attach a pic from Google to let you guy know how steep it was.

Here is the pic of the steep roads from google:

After 36 Hairpins, we were down finally and i enjoyed so much even though i was scared... These are the hair pins where you cant show your cornering skills. You got to fully slow down or else Death is Inevitable. Added to that Road was not so great and it was bumpy at the Hairpins. We can blame it either because laying roads on those stretches is itself a great achievement. the mirrors at each bends were so helpful.. Anyway we reached down and now, we are in the forest No Signal, Minimal Traffic, only You and your bike surrounded by dense forest which has Elephants, leopards and what not.. That feel was so amazing. The roads were beautifully laid and we rode slowly searching the whole forest for any elephants.. Sadly we couldnt spot any and we almost reached masinagudi.. And then we spotted CCD. Wow!! I never expected a CCD in the middle of the forest. Parked the bikes and went inside and had our breakfast.. Meanwhile we checked for the route of our Resort " Bear mountain Jungle Resort" in gmaps and followed the same Route. We ended up in some other place where there is nothing... Asked the locals and it was on the opposite side.. Damn Google

                  Inside the Forest:

Finally somehow we reached the Resort and It was such a beautiful place.. I never expected it to be so beautiful when we booked the resort. Went into the office and Bam!! He says who are you guys? You haven't booked here.. We were like WTF!! We booked it through Yatra and Those people at Yatra didn't inform here.. SO many calls and waiting and finally after 45 mins We were given a room... It was 11:30 am when we reached the Room.. We had planned for Pykara And it was already late.. We had lunch and Thought of having a power nap. Sadly we both slept off and woke up at 1:30pm. We asked the Resort people and they said, They said, the Roads will be closed by 6pm and we cant enter masinagudi after 6pm... Damn!! our whole plan was spoiled and we decide to take rest till evening and go to some nearby forest and theppakadu By 5pm. Sadly we could spot any except for some monkeys and a will bull..

I actually dont mind as long as am riding and i ride even without a reason.. But Kmk was depressed a bit of not seeing anything.. Roamed around Masinagudi and Had dinner at the Resort itself as its not advised to Go out in two wheeler at night.. Even local people dont prefer it. You have to come through a forest even to reach the Resort. The resort itself is in between the forest and it is not protected by any fence or anything.. Only Few dogs Guard it Animals are free to come inside the resort and there has been many encounters with leopard and elephants in the past.. By 9pm it was pitch dark ( You can check the pics ) and we spotted some deers grazing inside the resort. Damn!!! i have never been so close to nature ever before...

Even though we couldn't see much, we enjoyed the Resort whole day.We roamed around the resort till 10:30 pm and then went to bed praying nothing damages our bikes Heard from my friend that his car was being shaken by elephants at night.. He couldnt do anything except for watching it from his room window..

Let the pics talk from now on....

                  The resort:

                  Our room:

                  Me relaxing outside:

Our room is on the left and straight road leads into the forest (Now you know why we were scared):

                  The same pic at dark:

Deer Grazing at night ( You can see their eyes lit up by cam flash)

END OF THE DAY (Behind me is pitch dark forest
                  )

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

                            Why not have 2 perspectives?

Sid has his own perspective and a way of putting his expereince into words. Meanwhile you can do it from your end too. Pics would be similar because you both stopped at the same places. Next time, keep a gap.
