      A Ride to Chidiyatapu

Chidiyatapu is the southern most point of South Andaman Island and is the starting point of the Andaman Truck Road (NH223) which connects South Andaman, Baratang, Middle Andaman & North Andaman Islands. As the name suggests, Chidiyatapu is diverse in Avian fauna thanks to the beautiful Reserve forest, Its isolated turtle nesting beaches, Coral reefs and a trek to the cliffs at the very tip.

Its was the Christmas morning, got geared up and left home at 5.30 to watch the sunrise at Burmanallah en route to chidiyatapu. The road to Chidiyatapu runs along the coast at Burmanallah and Kodiyaghat and offers plenty of places to sit back and watch the sunrise from.

Is it possible to board bikes from India and ship them to the islands (for travel/touring purpose only)?

Any pointers to do so is appreciated.

Yes, U can ship the bike via GATI, TCI or Agarwals. Best is to Rent bikes in the islands.

It is possible, but not recommended. Firstly you'll have to pay municipal octroi then clear port formalities. Similarly while taking it back packing, booking it in a container then unloading in the kolkata/ vizag/ chennai port. All the effort for not much of long distance riding experience.

Better option would be to rent a bike in the islands.

                Re: Exploring Andamans

Andaman and Nicobar remains the best place in India that I have traveled to.

Virgin beaches, blue sea, lovely roads, forests, islands crossing on ferries..

this should be at the top of each traveler's bucket list.
