And you trekked to Everest Base Camp! Amazing man!All men dream, but not equally. Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act upon their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. - T. Trust me..... for one hour I was reading & intend to keep work aside anytime for such wonderful pics & words.
Nepal is a b'ful. I've been there many times & could identify some places.. Keep riding & all the best.
Glad you liked the pix.Originally posted by budding_biker View Postwell done sir g....again nice pics a treat to watch...
Its like for the real mountains in bhutan or Nepal you have to get off the road, i did not in bhutan, while i got off the road in Nepal. Thats the difference. Hehe not the top most point but i took the bike to the closest point to everest on the road when i rode to JiriOriginally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostNepal is surely a very beautiful country. From whatever I have seen from Praveen's trip the vistas look much better than Bhutan.
@Praveen-I won't be surprised if the other day you post a picture of yours and your bike from the topmost point of Everest
.
Still have to work on the pix. A couple of them below.Originally posted by nabendubasu View Post@praveen: waiting for the Everest pics..

working on the updates.
You just have to install the Nokia sports tracker. With that app you can export tracks into GPX files. The evertrail website takes this file and plots the points on the map.Originally posted by diffuser911 View PostPraveen, one thing that's been niggling me is how are you tracking the paths in your GPS phone? Is there any built-in app or something you installed separately? I got myself a Nokia 6210 Navigator
and it has no inbuilt support for marking your trail.
Back in kathmandu today. The last 12 days has been like fairy tale. Things worked out pretty well. The weather was good in the off season just when it mattered. Pushed my luck and my phisical limits beyond my imagination. Considering i never trek and have had bad experiances after trekking for 4-5 hours previously. Took it slow real slow, let 60-70 year old ladies pass me
Had met people who had to come back from Lobuche due to bad weather, come back from Gorak shep without visiting base came, kala pattar due to bad weather. All this while i was going up in off season and people were leaving the place in a hurry. Weather was perfect. Just to add spice there was a day of walk in rain and day of walk in snow storm. And guess what when i came to lukla, flights ran that day while it got canceled the previous day!
Was an humbling experiance, where a basic meal would cost you 300 rs and a cup of hot water 30 Rs, an hour of battery charge 350 rs. The things which we take for granted. The freezing night at lobuche where i shiver for warming the blanket when i get in. For that have to breath harder and the diaphram is already in cramps due to over work(AMS). Had the exercise many times as i had dairia that night! Come day what a contrast, a walk through snowy mountains under the bright sun and blue sky.
Found the company of last tourists of season on the way up and was a fantastic walk back alone where i was the only living thing around. Walking back got painful shoe bites in a old shoes the last day! But no choice but walking.
Seen contrasts like healthy looking people giving up part of the trek, old frail people going all the way. How ppl are to the nicest of behavior to each other on the way up and carefree on the way back.
My first and last trek couldn't have been bettor. In the end, if i can do it, any body can
Will rest for today and tomm while i work on logs.
Just a couple of pix... resized in IE!!
At the Base camp...

From kala pattar at 5600 mtr! Where people stop at 5500 meters at summit got tempted and went up till the communications tower. Thats where they get the Everest view pictures from kala pattar with the entire khumbu glaciar visible. Mornings the sun is behind everest, but these time of the year clouds are up by noon.

Will post next after i do some work
But isnt it strange to talk about trek in bikers forum. Hesitant to post the logs of the last few days of trek. All i had was the motorcycle jacket and not the motorcycle while on trek!
