Stuff about panniers-
Custom made from Galvanized sheets.
A half centimeter cushion stuck inside and a black rexine leather stuck outside to reduce vibrations and metal flapping noise.
The caps open to the outside on both sides so that Cramster saddle bag can go in both the panniers. The idea is the let the saddle bag take most of the weight and the pannier be a metal cover carrying its own weight.

There are slits to the inside of the panniers to accommodate resting flap of the saddle bag, once the panniers are closed.

First mount point for the Right Pannier

Second mount point for Right pannier, resting on the silencer...

Looking inside, the nut screws right into the silencer...

Third mount point of Right pannier. A custome made metal tube in the place of Indicator socket.

First mount point of the Left pannier, Resting on Saree guard...

Second mount point of Left pannier. Metal fabricated piece welded to Saree guard and screwed to pannier...

Third mount point of Left pannier...

Since the Indicator socket is used up by the metal tubes to support the panniers and occupying its space, the Indicators move back and are fixed on the Number Plate. White Reflective strips stuck on the back of panniers. The Panniers have two locks each one at the front and one at the back. The locks are modified such that, all locks open with a single key and also that key could be pulled out when the lock is opened.

Praveen Sir..the amount of info you are blessing us with is fantastic..
All can I say is "THANK YOU" and that you are always there to look upto and give us some suggestions on MEGA Touring..
What really amazes me is that inspite of reading Jupiter's Travels, Long Way Round and Long Way Down , there really isnt very detailed description of the 'Preparation Phase' of such mega touring adventures...Hammer the racetrack. Pace yourself on the street.

Thanks straider. I guess Jupiter travels guy went light living of the land. As for as long way round guys, there was an hour long episode on preparation i guess. Guess this is not such a big one as theirs. And i guess may be travels should not be compared, cos it all depends on ones disposition and feasibility.Last edited by praveenkm; 10-01-2009, 01:51 PM.

I had expected them to atleast cover the details or part of it in the book(Long Way)..Originally posted by praveenkm View PostThanks straider. Praveen sir, Iam not comparing the travels at all, since everyone has a unique dimension of thinking, purpose, disposition and ofcourse the travel experience...
but i very glad that you have shared all of that with us on Xbhp..Hammer the racetrack. Pace yourself on the street.
