arrey nahi yaar. this was a first time for me too. Just need to have the desire and inclination It did not get me very philosophical but helped me reducing fear of uncertaintyOriginally posted by escape2me View Postpraveen bhai..dont know wat to say buddy..."a full sashtang pranam to you"...apne sharan me le lo

Is Nepal Safe??
Hi Praveen,
Firstly I want to congratulate you for the amazing achievement!!
I am planning to ride to Nepal coming January 2010. Please provide your inputs towards the Safety of visiting Nepal in these turbulant times.
While in Nepal did you have any security concerns ??
Is keeping a low profile good enough to avoid unwanted attention?
Regards,
Mukul Bhat

Thanks Mash.
Mik: Not sure, and guess it will be real long time and if at all i ride long
Mukulbhat: Thanks man. Well i did enter nepal just after the govt fell but things were ok but for some huge demonstrations in kathmandu. Highway blockade is very common thing in nepal. Leavel early and reach early. Take extreme precaution as to not to get into any issue on the road, cos the people hardly depend on cops to punish! Yes. maintaining low profile is good any where traveling alone. Stay in tourist places, that is the area named 'Thamel' in Kathmandu and 'Lakeside' in Pokhara. These two places are total freak out and enjoyable. Also make sure to keep your petrol tank full all the time. you never know when fuel supply will run out. See if you can ride out till Kodari, which is Nepal china trade border. and also Cherikot. Very nice ride in mountainous country side. Safe and beautiful.
