Though, like you said, the situation only seems to get worser and worser. Banks now won't give credit, companies can't do without credit, companies have to shut down, then again banks won't have any income and the viscious cycle goes on... sick.. Well.. hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

My advice to anybody, stuck in a inevitable layoff, go back to your parents, borrow some money, and study. Develop your skill set and be reay for the boom when it comes back around
