Re: A Malabarian Sojourn - Wroom Couple goes on for 6 days Dosa and Coffee ride!

      CHAPTER 4 - “DAY 4”

      “Secret of Garden tea”

      Day4 (Saturday) –11th Nov 2016

      Route – Wayanad - Sulthan Bathery - Gudalur - Theppakadu - Masinagudi – Ooty(130 Kms ) Kalahatti

It was the day when we were about to ride on most picturesque roads of Ooty, infact since the day we rode in North east we were craving for beautiful tea garden to sight and we even risked ourselves and rode on those dangerous and tortuous road of Tukvar tea garden just to sight a tea garden, this is exactly why we were super excited to ride towards Ooty.

We dozed early that day since we thought to wake up early and leave early to meet our dream of riding on those scenic 36 hairpins (Kalhatti Ghat) which goes to Ooty.

But there is great saying that Human beings can make any plans they want, but it's God that decides their success or failure.

It was 2.30 in the morning when Sachin suddenly woke up and rushed towards washroom, when he returned I asked him about everything ok and he replied saying “Nothing just a normal routine” since I was still in my sleeping mode so I dozed off.

Again when I came out of my sleep, I heard some weird voice from washroom when I rushed in, I saw Sachin spewing badly. It was 4.30 a.m. when I realized that he was hit with severe dysentery and fever in the middle of night and since 2.30 he wasn’t able to sleep but just because he did not wanted to disturb my sleep he did not wake me up.

For a moment I was frightened because it was me all alone to take care of him and no one else around us. I took his hand and gripped it tight saying “Stay strong” though I was very worried but worry never helped anybody.

I gave him a tablet named “B-Quinol” which is a Ayurvedic tablet for stomach and which is one of the most important tablet of our 1st First-Aid box, we can forget anything but not this tablet. Thank god I had that which made him bit relaxed because he already puked for 7-8 times and water content in his body was already down. Fever, Bad body ache, headache, stomach pain and what not he was suffering with, so by 6.30 a.m. I gave him a Crocin which made him sleep for next 2 hours.

I was continuously praying god so that the night gets over so that I can ask help of resort guys and take him to doctor if he doesn’t feels well after waking up.
I also thought to quit our plan of going to Ooty and take rest in Wayanad itself but Sachin woke up around 9.30 and asked me to pack up and leave for Ooty. I was bit hesitant to do so but he said that he was feeling good and can ride for few kms since Wayanad to Ooty was not more than 130 kms.

We had our very light breakfast after which we went to nearby Lake which was just a 5 mints walk from our resort, Sachin felt quite refreshed after going there because whenever you get sick and you keep lying on your bed for hours and hours you start feeling more sick so it is ours way to get rid of health issue and recharged ourselves, in fact who will not get charged up when there were so much green freshness all around you.

We came back to our room, packed up the stuffs and left for Ooty. Sachin was feeling too weak so I took Glucon D for him, unfortunately we did not get ORS in any of the medical shop near Wayanad and Sulthan Bathery, STRANGE!!

We even had water melons on the way to keep his water content up but normally after Fever you don’t feel like eating anything at all and similar thing was going around with Sachin.

We were sad and down with our spirits because we shortlisted some beautiful sights in Wayanad which unfortunately did not happen but atleast on our way to Ooty we saw this amazing huge church named “St cathedral” which was so beautiful that in spite of not knowing anything about this church we were forced to stop there because of its beauty and take a couple of pics.

Just before our south ride we went on a Goa ride and saw some good churches there but my friends after seeing this church I cannot compare it with any of the churches we have in Mumbai or Goa or whatsoever. We prayed almighty for good health and safe journey ahead.

Though Sachin left for Ooty with all courage and strength in his body and soul but he started feeling unwell just after riding for 60 kms. There was one such patch of 20 kms through Jungle while riding to Ooty which had speed breakers after every 30mtrs and it was one such painful moment when you have to apply brakes after every 30 mtrs which actually drained Sachin’s body completely.

We stopped to have our lunch after we finished those tortuous 20 kms patch and entered a hotel. As soon as we entered the hotel Sachin fainted and collapsed on ground. I was so damn afraid at that moment after seeing him in that situation and regretting of not staying in Wayanad itself and taking rest. Why did I allow him to ride in spite of knowing that he was so weak? I was completely blank for a moment when Hotel staff ran towards us and gave him some water, I quickly mixed some orange Glucon-D after which I asked Sachin to eat something and get strength because he did not had anything since morning and that could be one of the reason of weakness.

I ordered a Chapatti and dal which he did not eat because dal was too spicy for him, I gave him sugar and chapatti to eat but he was not able to eat that as well, then I ordered some rice but without eating anything he left from there and went to stairs of hotel and slept. I accompanied him, took his head on my lap, pressed his forehead and asked him to sleep for some time.

When somebody is sick make sure you try this touch formula which my Mom normally used to do whenever I or somebody in my house fell sick- like place your hand on the forehead of someone who is sick or hold hand of that person and try to transfer your energy into him, believe me this therapy has never failed till date.
While I placed my hand on Sachin’s forehead he slept like kid for 2 hours i.e. from 3.30 p.m. till 5.30 p.m. I did not wanted to wake him up but we were still 50 kms away from Ooty which also includes those 36 hairpins and I did not wanted us to ride there in dark.

When Sachin woke up he said that he was feeling good and can resume the ride, but I was still worried and terrified about the collapse which he had few hours ago because that shouldn’t happen when he is on bike. So I gave him some more orange juice so that he is not dehydrated.

It was indeed one of the most scenic and beautiful road with stunning tea garden covering us from all four sides. But Alas!! We were not in our elements to enjoy that beauty. Sachin was in no mood to click any pics for that day so I took the charge and clicked few photos which wasn’t so great but at least I wanted to click photos of tea garden for which we were striving since North east ride.

It was fun riding on 36 hairpins, the curves did not felt so dangerous because we have been riding on such curves a lot since last 2 years and also because we just returned from our North east ride which taught us awesomely about how to pull off your machine on such Ghats.

It was rainy evening when we reached Ooty, weather was so pleasant but sadly Sachin was shivering and was caught with fever again. Somehow around 7.00 pm we reached Ooty – the hills of queens and checked in our hotel and ordered for a hot cup of tea. I wanted Sachin to rest as much as he can because only that can make his body recover. I was also worried because we planned to ride to Kolhapur the next day which was 900+ kms and in this situation I was finding no way to execute this plan of 900 kms.

Sachin slept for 2 hours and then around 10.00 I ordered some non-spicy bhindi and chapatti. I forced him to eat at least 1 chapatti because empty stomach could have made him more weaker.

I did not worry about tomorrow and asked Sachin to not worry about same because health is a priority not the plan.

“Stay strong. Make them wonder how you’re still smiling” this is exactly what we followed and called it a day. Almighty helps you and keeps you strong when you least expect anything from future

          Always a good read...

Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

Glad you are looking to sell the Mojo. My suggestion would be to look for a twin cylinder bike which will make a world of difference on long rides.
