  • [Photo Feature]: Solo ride to ladakh 2017.

It all started one Friday afternoon when my phone rang and on the other side it was my boss asking me for an update about the situation of the vehicles standing in stock at the ware house , to which my reply was sir “ will be sending you the mail in a short-while”. And he was like shouting at the top of his voice , blaming me of delay in the updates. I just knew that , he won’t be calming down for time being and then all of a sudden there a big disturbance in the office premises as a customer was not satisfied with his prized possession . And the conversation came to an end along with that the day also came to an end with some thoughts which were un-describable in words.
The next day in the morning meeting I was asked to resign or else you will be fired from the office. I tried to request them but that was no more possible . But as everything was made final and I no more had a job so decided to move on without making any further complications.

So now I was all free like an open bird and with nothing to do, brainstorming was being done day and night thinking of various other alternatives. Then all of a sudden I saw some bikers from south of India heading towards the northern most city of India “LEH”. And i was like lets do it. Contacted some of friends and asked them if they would like to join in for a ride to ladakh . The replies came in which were more of like de-motivating . Some were interested and were ready to be a part of it where as few took it as a joke and were making delays in the trip. To which I was like let’s stop this stupidity and let’s do it “SOLO”. So after that few necessary gears , bags were all purchased even till the last moment it was not final whether should I ride it or should I transport my bike and ride it from the “DELHI” . Then suggestions came that don’t ride the bike now as by the time you reach Delhi you will be completely tired and you would end up in loosing momentum , so better take your bike along with you in the Indian railway as it will be cheaper and safe along with that less time consuming. To which I agreed and tickets were booked, bags packed , bike packing was done, tips paid to the coolie and an epic ride was about to start in the next few days of my reaching to Delhi.

                Thank you all.

                ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

After a 25 hr journey from City of Temples , Bhubaneswar to the capital of India, Delhi . I was one step closer to accomplishing my dream of riding solo on some of the toughest terrains India has to offer, the beauty of nature which calls every year to many riders from different parts world , even some calling it the “Mecca for Bikers” . But before I could ride the bike in the streets of Delhi I have to get the bike out from the custody of Indian Railways Parcel office, which was nothing less than a tough task . They made me run from pillar to pillar and after 2 hours of struggling and tipping the coolie my bike was out . Checked the bike for any scratches or any damages , not even a single dent. Filled up the tank with the spare fuel I was carrying along with me and now all set for the trip. But no its not the end here. The bike started with ease and soon it was on the roll, filled up the tank till the brim. by the time I reached my guest-house in Delhi the bike started showing high coolant temperature as the radiator fan was not working properly and it needs to changed , which was not possible now. So decided to head straight to the guest house and get it fixed the next day. While the bike was getting fixed I had also got a rear luggage rack from Faaster wheels , Pune which I got installed . Check both the brake pads, oil level, coolant level and every bit was checked in the service centre and its set to head to the mountains.

As I had mentioned above , there was not even a single scratch neither a single part was broken as the front wind screen , mirrors , knuckle guards and last thing was petrol were removed .
Yes , I would recommend other riders who are planning to do such big rides and are facing issue with transporting their bike then they can opt. for this mode of transportation. In this mode of transport there is the risk of getting your bike damaged but if it is packed properly then not damages are going to take place. Main part is the packing.
In total I spent somewhere close to 3700/- including packing , doing the formalities at the railway station , tipping the coolie , getting the bike out from the station.

                          DAY-1
Woke up early in the morning at 3 am waiting for the morning rituals to be complete , being so early it was taking its time for the rituals to be over . So in the meanwhile packed my bags with all small things that I need to have which I might forget in a hurry , loaded it on the bike and it was all set. Now I need to be ready and be on the saddle . As it was Sunday so I was excepting some super bikers on the road which I did but was too lazy to clicked to click pictures.
Today my target was to reach Amritsar which was some 483 kms away from where I was staying in Delhi. The route that I took was Delhi - Sonipat – Panipat – karnal – Ambala – Ludhiana – Jalandhar – Amritsar. Reached my hotel in Amritsar around 04:30 pm , bags unpacked from thebike, took a good bath, took some rest. My plan was to visit wagah border and see the beating retreat in the evening, but my mistake I didn’t actually find the timings of the ceremony due to which I missed it out. So with guilty of missing it out , I further didn’t delay and went straight to the Golden Temple to enjoy the beauty of the temple. Spent around 2 hrs at the temple , just sitting idle beside the pond watching the fish fiddling in the water and paths going on in the background. What a peaceful place it was. Then by around 10pm came back to hotel had dinner and went straight to bed.

Time to leave Delhi and head to the mountains. As a long journey is waiting for me ahead.
