Day 1: Hyderabad to Hampi

We planned to start early by 6:00am but setting up everything on bike for fist time took quite a time. finally we all setup and started from home by 7:30.



the route we planned was NH44 Hyd- bangalore highway till Kurnool and then take state roads via Alur-Ballari to Hampi



As we touched NH44 it was all smooth and bike was easily munching at 90kmph.



We took our first stop 100km before Kurnool , Pyramid Foods for breakfast. It's very nice place on highway with lots of parking space with playground for kids. Clean lavatories.


After breakfast we started from there by 10:00 for to Kurnool.
After Kurnool it was state highway which was good for 20Kms .

But, the story yet to bigin. The drive which supposed to be flat on flat road turn out 180Kms of badly broken and under construction state highways.


I followed the google maps but suddenly road was gone even construction was not there. All was just piles of boulders and construction trash in way of google map direction.
From behind, there comes a good samaritan in car who asked if we are going to Ballari and he will lead with better road. So we took turn to other side and google navigation started following other route. However still the road was in construction. There was a village road of stretch of around 300m which was completely full of boulders and mud. I wish I had taken the photo but my complete focus was on driving.
It was complete WHAT-IF condition, if tyre get punctured in middle of nowhere.
I can't lie that I wasn't scare.


In between we saw Wind Farms on Alur - Ballari road




After reaching ballari we had break and fill the petrol again. 60Km more to for Hampi.

However even NH67 Ballari to Hospet was in construction but somehow better because of heavy vehicle movement.
Finally we reached Kamlapur road and that was really good drive of 8km between trees


We reached our hotel Mayura Bhuvneshwari by around 5:30.

Day 2: Visit to Virupaksha Temple and Hemkuta Group of temples and little accident


We started Day 2 early in morning as it was Pongal day (14th Jan) with lots of devotees going to visit to Virupaksha Temple.
We reached Virupaksha Temple by 6:30 and people were sleeping around temple campus.
After formal darshanam and puja, there was lots of time to view the details of temple.
It was just marvelleous.

The carving and concentric pillars are awesoome in Bhuvneshwari Temple (Must Visit)






Also, being in early morning we got chance to meet and feed The Elephant, Laxmi in person while she was free to roam around.






Later we visited the Hemkuta group of temples. Too many things to explore




While coming at exit of hills wife's ankle got twistted and she screamed like hell.
We came back to hotel and I applied Move and wrapped crape bandage which we brought as medical supply.
After that, a nearby visiting doctor had a look and told that seems nothing serious but advised to take x-ray.
Now, I was little scared what to do. I decided tha if pain is not going down by next morning we will come back to Hyderabad.
Luckely there was no swelling and by next morning she was able to walk a little.

(After coming to Hyderabad, she visited hospital. Turned out a hair line fracture and have to put plaster for a month)

Hampi Tour Day 3 and 4

Day 3: Vijya Vittala Temple, Ride to Anegudi Village and central Hampi


By next morning wife was feeling better but she can't walk for long but no point of sitting at resort. So I decided to drive to places and whe will do minimal walks.





We startedwith Vijya Vittala Temple. Guard allowed me to drive bike close to battery operated car which takes visiters to temple.

Later we drive to Anegudi Village to Pampa Sarovar.

From there used a small ferri at Talwar Gatta,




After that it was time to explore central Hampi monuments.

A possible Ancient Lathe Machine, If you are visiting Hampi don't miss this. No tour guide or any mention. It's right next to Royal Enclosure




Day 4: Back to Hyderabad by longer route. So we get less bumps.
Daroji -> Ballari -> Guntakal -> Gooty -> NH44 (Bangalore Higway) -> Hyderabad

Back en-route to Hyderabad







On NH44 we stop by at small hotel. We didn't the get the food as it was still morning for dhaba, but this little guy got lots of biscuits

Nice and clean write up!! Beautiful and Scenic pictures!! Could you shed some light on the performance and mileage of the bike with pillion and luggage? Did you feel any vibrations while cruising at speeds?

Mileage: I didn't measured but it was less than 45 Kmpl.
Highway Cruising: With pillion and bags I was able to cruise 90+ easily. However I kept it 85-90 only. Vibration was nil.

Driving Comfort: We didn't feel any backpain or tiredness after ride.

Stability: There was stretch of 170+ km (onward route) / 120 km (back route) of under-construction road of gravel and even some places boulders. But it able to sail through, thanks to MRF Zapper. It said to be soft compound tire but I don't see any cuts after trip. Not even loss of tire pressure.
Luckily avoided two accident places, jumping over unmarked breakers on flat road. These breaker are not visible at speed of 70+ and breaking may skid the bike.

Only problem with bike after journey: chain cover bold screw thread worn out. Not sure how it happened.

Happy to see this travelogue. That too when some one says who would you travel so far on a 160cc bike. That is the question that I face after my recent 1200kms round trip.
Appreciate all the effort in writing and posting lovely pics. Congratulations to Mrs. Anoop for tagging along and keeping you motivated.

Kudos for taking the bad road that lasted 180kms. I would ahve taken a detour instead
