“Traveling solo does not always mean you’re alone. Most often, you meet marvelous people along the way and make connections that last a lifetime.” – Jacqueline Boone
Day 3 - Chhindwara to Lucknow - 789 kms
Third day belongs to Lucknow, probably the best city by far from my entire ride. Especially the people. Night before I had a delayed sleep, kept on getting calls and messages from family, friends and brothers from the riding community, from different parts of the country. Now there were 2 such people I couldn't ignore calls from, One my elder brother Sumit Singh and another one was non other than the very famous rider from Lucknow, Babla Da. Both of them had a very kind soul. Kept on calling me throughout the day rather throughout the entire ride to get updates about the ride and if everything was fine or not.
A heavy dinner and a delayed sleep made sure I wake up very very late the next day and that's excatlt what happened. I woke up only by 8am on a day which was probably going to be my longest day of the ride till Nepal in terms of KMs. So I had to rush and get ready as soon as possible. Within little less than an hour I packed my saddles, took bath, mounted the saddles and started for "Nawab O Ka Seher" Lucknow.
It was a mixed bag day in terms of roads. Good roads, bad roads patchy roads, bumpy roads single laned, four laned the day covered everything. Eventhough all were National Higways I was crossing but the view was very scenric specially a few places.
Beautiful Mornings
Now I had been getting calls about the UP sector being very bad for riders and was warned about not to stop at any lonely places. Not one but multiple people had warned me about the same. But me being Sagar have I ever done a thing in life which didn't involved risk!.. I had to stop and click a few photos.
When Sagar at Sagar meets Sagar. To much of Sagar around
Now let me clear this to you, all these unsafe for riders talks are just rumo
rs. Please don't be scared my them. In fact I had a few people who came up to me and asked if I need some kind of help throughout the UP sector whenever I stopped for a few clicks. So people stop spreading such rumors. #IncredileIndia.
Now one place I always wanted to visit was the land of Rani Lakshmibai, Jhansi. I was always fascinated by history and love to visit historical places but I was already late. It was already 3:30pm when I reached Jhansi so had to give up the idea about a detour to the historical land of Jhansi. Not without a photo though.
Khub ladi mardani woh toh Jhansi wali Rani thi. A tribute to the bravest daughter ever, Rani Lakshmibai.
With a heavy heart I moved on towards Lucknow. As I moved on towards Lucknow the view started deteriorating. From landscapes to people, traffic and pollution.
I had to skip lunch for the day as I didn't want any unnecessary breaks.
Reached Kanpur by 7pm and it was already pitch dark with full of traffic on the road. Now one thing about UP. The local politicians will have at least 15 different types of light installed on their car which made riding very much irritating on the dark and specially the onward traffic. Finally struggling through traffic reached Lucknow Airport only to know that it was around 25 kms more to reach my destination which was Sumit Bhiaya's house. Started back on road through the traffic. After a Km of irritated traffic I get to see wonderful lane roads finally. Yes it was shaheed path and that the first good welcome Lucknow gave me.
A happy me cruised as much as possible as it was already late and Babla Da was waiting on the road for me. Finally met the very famous Babla da. A very down to earth and helpful person. He insisted me to stay with him for the night but I had to stay with my brother. So called up Sumit bhaiya and the conversation follows:-
Me: Hello.
Bhaiya: Bol mere champ kahan tak paucha, kabse wait kar ho raha hai yahan tera.
Me: Bhaiya pauch gaya Lucknow, aapke ghar se 1km dur huin.
Bhaiya: To kya band baja wahan bheju ki ghar pe ayega?
Me: Bhaiya, woh Babla da aye huye hai toh isliye thoda confusion ho raha hai.
Bhaiya: Toh kya hua, unko bhi leke aajan sab milke party karenge, aaj mera champ aya hua hai..
Now this is what differentiates between other people and people from Lucknow. They have a gem of a heart. (Dil se Swagat). So informed Babla da and we moved on to bhaiya's place. Little did I know it is going to be a crazy night. Reached my destination for the day and it was a grand welcome I received from the Nawab's of Lucknow. It was a hell of a crazy night. We did party all throughout the night. Now I am a foody person. Like to taste different food from different culture. So so wanted to taste the very famous Kebab from Lucknow and it was already 1am. And right away Babla da took me to a Kebab place and I got my wish fulfilled.
Thank You Babla Da for the Kebab treat. One of my wish fulfilled.
It was a crazy night and we went to sleep only by 3am in the morning and in a few hours I had to start my ride to Nepal. Ended a wonderful and happy day at Lucknow with excitement about the next day which will move me one step closer to my dream. Some happy memories I brought back from Lucknow.
Yet another beautiful landscape.
Another sunset covered
Next part - Day 4 on the way to the Country of Mountains. Stay Tuned.
