update from Kalpa
Hey friends, here is the update:
Aryan Da called at 0820hrs (8:20am)
First of all DCS bhai and Aryan Da both are doing great and so are their machines
They are currently at Kalpa, would have already left for Kaga, which is around 200kms....they both would be leaving from Kinnor Valley and enetering Spiti Valley now.......
The heavenly scenario and the beauty of the mountains are keeping them going and highly inspirated....... They are facing the most pathetic roads and also some bad weather conditions, and hence yesterday they took 10hrs to ride 150km
...so we all can imagine how bad the roads must be....
Aryan Da words - "Shivanshu you cant even imagine how terrible and pathetic the roads are.....I dont think so you find roads like this even in Leh..."
And now they would be travelling 200kms to Kaga valley. So cheers to DCS bhai and Aryan Da,.......

Rohtang is open, but they are regularising traffic. Limiting the number of vechicles that cross over per day, so leave early from Manali. And where do you intend to go, just rohtang or beyond too?Originally posted by Abhishek2433 View PostHaving said that..... can anyone let me know the status of Rohtang route?? I know Sunny Bhai went there days ago but the latest thing, if anybody aware of it.
I'm planning to ride there.... but very low on cash (to be frank). So just wanted to get an idea on route & cost I'd have to incur??
Detour..the malling stretch is not maintained anymore...the nullah must have eaten up the road by now...Originally posted by groupbhp View PostSecondly, is that bad stretch (malling nullah?) doable right now or will they have to take a detour via Nako" I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - Kurt Cobain

Thanks for the update. Its good to know that they are doing great. Eagerly waiting for the outcome of this trip of a Lifetime. I am pretty convinced that the kind of photographs that are going to come of this trip will be inspiring a LOT of us to take this tour.Originally posted by Shivanshu View PostHey friends, here is the update:

Latest Update: Aryan and Co. has already crossed a place called pooh, the location at 12:25 PM, when i received the call was somwhere around a kilometer ahead of pooh, they are on Hindustan-Tibbet road and and the road is in the Best of the condition. Every turn every corner is bringing beautiful vistas for ultimate viewing pleasure to the riders. So we can expect some wonderful photographs.
The next stop will be at Khab for the lunch which is somehwere around 7 kms from Pooh, they intend to reach Kaza by evening which is still some 150 Kms away but this purely depends on the moods of weather Gods.
If they wont be able to make it to kaza they will be taking a intermediate halt for the night in Tabo or Nako.
The total mileage as of now is 650 kms and three days, the final figure will be some 1000 kms more.
This was all factual things, but the excitment in the Aryan's voice was making it pretty clear that 1500 kms or 2000kms or whatever this is a ride of lifetime.
I wish i were a part of this ride.
The next update is expected tonight.

These are the kind of places these guys are riding through.
The first pic, the road with overhanging rocks, is Khab. There is a bridge over the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti rivers here. Sutlej flows in from China which is merely 4-5 kms from here as the crow flies. Khab and Puh are about 12 kms apart.
The second pic is of Nako lake and its surrounding village. This is at about 14000ft. Great vistas thes.

OF, those pics need to come with a statutory warning. Unfortunate and hapless members sitting thousands of kms away at their workplaces must not be allowed to view these pics. It will cause instant depression and restlessness. The first case has been registered here

Is that Avatar of yours showing the way you are going to look 20 years down the line because you are sitting at your workstation too often and too far away from these places shown by OF?Originally posted by rossiter View PostOF, those pics need to come with a statutory warning.
