It had been over 3 months since my last ride. The monotonous routine had got me by the neck and the urge to get a break had built up for quite some time now.
Wifey had been reminding me, time and again to get back to rides but the routine had got me!
Come today:
She started asking me the same question. Where are we heading next? and the biggest question "WHEN"?
Hence decided to give in, and we were ready to ride to the next available weekend.
Zeroed down to 2nd weekend (sat-sun) of March, and we were ready to roll.
The issues:
Bike:-Usual maintenance:
Got that sorted just 2 days before the ride. Chain sprocket, Cables and oil change was due.
Weather:
- In Namma Benglauru it was 32-35°C in the day!
-Thus, sea shore was off the consideration list and hills was the option left.
Stay:
- With very less days left to travel and stay was yet to be figured out. Well I have the basic requirement: clean washroom, comfortable room for stay, and a proper secure parking. But since wife was the pillion, have to always think of a good place.
All good options i could think of were either sold out or too expensive for 1 day stay. Turns out, Zostel Coorg was available with a private room. And thus we decided to give it a try - will share a quick review of it towards the end!
So now comes Friday evening.
Bike and stay is sorted.
Weather - well, hoping for mercy!
We decided to take the below route: Day1: Home - Mysore Road - Mandya - Hunsur - Periyapatna - Siddapura - Zostel (293KM)
and took other route during return leg: Zostel - Kushal Nagar (Namdroling Monastery) - Periyapatna - Hunsur - Mysore Road - Home (263KM)
Started from home at around 5:30AM. The weather was pleasant.
Sailed through the city pretty quickly and hit the highway!
Happiness that riding brings to us!
Mornings are good, when on highway!
Enroute, somewhere after Madduru, stopped for a quick coffee break and made 2 new friends, one was camera shy, while the other one posed happily for us! isnt she gorgeous?
Took breakfast break at: Tea County, Hunsur (Google: https://goo.gl/maps/fEFfxWg8GgG2 ) Landmark: Bang opposite to RE Showroom in Hunsur, on the highway.
Kaapi is life!
The cafe is a pocket friendly and a well located one..with ample parking.
Soon we entred the forest area after crossing Periyapatna. The road between Periyapatna and Siddapura passes through Dense forest, having autumn just left us, the jungle looked sore. But the thought of coming at the same spot in monsoon to enjoy the lush greenery bought a smile, and a tensed moment for the wildlife being around.
Around 11:30am, we checked-in to Zostel, Coorg.
Completed formalitites and came to know that their cook is not available thus need to order food from outside. Room was OK.
Zostel Coorg welcomes you:
Got acquitanted with Mr. Aniket, the property incharge at Zostel. Got some good insight and things to do in and around Zostel for a leisurely ride.
Got freshen up and ordered some lunch. Since it was depressingly hot outside, post lunch, we decided to recharge our batteries.
Some click's of Zostel:
The view outside the reception lobby
Black Pepper
Until lunch came, clicked some shots of my bike:
Voila!! Woke up at 4:30PM.
The plan was to leave by 4, go to Dubare Elephant camp, and then head to Chikklihole Reservior to see the sunset.
Managed to ride up to Dubare, although did not venture towards the camp side. Instead, did some spices and chocolate shopping and also tasted some home made wines.
Then we rode to the reservoir! Trust me the spot is bang on! Amidst the nature, a beautiful structure of dam with backdrop of hills - makes up a perfect view for the sunset.
Photoshoot time:
into the woods
Chase the sunsets, but make sure you wear your helmet first!
Soaking the view
Inverted sunset in the visor
The journey becomes memorable when the companion enjoys the ride, as much as you do!
Yours truly!!
A decent one

Now, lets enjoy the pics:
