    Oh BABY!
    thats just sumthing amazing!
A ride on a R1, kudos Ken da, great ride & great pics!

n Hey ken da, I just rode a CBR600RR (same one as in da DP) in my recent THAILAND trip.
It was an amazing experience, but I dint dare to take it 120+ kmph as sadly I dint had any gear, not even a Helmet...

I might be a little late to the party, but have to hand it to you for sharing such a wonderful trip-log. Sadly dont get much time to spend on the board even though there is so much stuff going on. I would love love to go out for a ride on the roads you mentioned, thanks for sharing the brilliant photographs. This is what biking is all about you know, I pray to god that I too find a companion who shares the love of these things as much as me. Infact I am quite sure most of us guys here would feel the same way. Do try and sneak in a quicky 100 km or so during the weekend. I am sure you're aching to. That Golf Resort where we met isnt too far right? God I miss Delhi roads! Be safe and looking forward to many more trip-logs (even 4 wheeled) from you.
Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

Superb write-up there. The best part was the minute details of the place that you have shared with all of us.Will be helpful to a lot of xBhpians.

The airstrip story was the USP of the whole story.Never knew about sas-bahu temples. They have some resemblance with temples in Khajuraho

            Keep writing.

You must visit Udaipur. Lovely place... as I said Venice of India!

As for the Exif of that particular portrait shot in Sahelion ki Bari, it is right here:

              Camera: 5D
              Lens: 200mm, f2.8, L USM
              Aperture Priority, f2.8, 1/40 sec;

              Thanks

You are right on most counts there.
              1. Rajasthan and Rajput architecture IS fascinating. It is worth a study.
              2. Comfy for a pillion on an R1? Sitting like a crouched toad all day long, she looks like a sprinter ready to take the 100 mts dash at the Olympics. The triceps, shoulders and pectorals get well developed! The R1 is not a bike to carry a pillion around on. Young Miss Moon does it coz she wants to do it with me. She has developed endurance and stamina travelling over the past 15 months. But I intend to cut down on it. It is not easy on her. Interestingly though, this being THE longest ride, of 700 kms, she did not have any issues with the posture of a pillion on a race replica. What creates problems are the issues of strong braking, hard acceleration.
              3. Heat is not at all an issue if you are FULLY covered. On the way back however, her lower calves got exposed as the jeans had ridden up her legs. And her calves got singed with the heat emanating from the side of the exhausts. A month later, she still has problems wearing skirts to office coz one can see the singed marks on her lower calf area, a clear mark just above the socks!
              4. Compared to your bikes, I do find that the difference in time when you are doing just long distances, like 700 kms, would be about an hour to 90 minutes, not more. For distances like 250 kms, the difference between and R1 and a P220 would barely be 10-15 minutes or less. I am saying this from experience. If you got a Cruiser with 50-60 odd Bhp, you can cruise all day long with relatively more comfort at 120kmph and reach 20 minutes later than the R1 over 700 kms.

but one question, how did you accessed the airstrip for the speed run on a bike!

i know there is not much air traffic to bother about, but still....how did you convinced the authorities
If you look at the article, you see will that there were NO authorities to convince. Just an old man who was the guard who did not need convincing. I just "hello, how are you doing", and he was happy to let me use the strip!

Yes, I wanted to put in the details of Udaipur, some history; I feel it is important for us Indians to know our cultural background and history.

The Sas-Bahu temples at Nagda would be a Very very miniaturised Khajuraho. Tiny really. But the architecture, the representations and figurines on the walls, the themes AND the tranquil ambiance are Very similar indeed.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

How would it be during this time of the year (June - July)? Hot and humid, or are there any chances of rain? I was actually planning to go there (not exactly Udaipur but to Rajasthan) in an week's time or so. Hence, this query.

We just skim through the photographs on the surface. But I motivated myself to write after our exchange through PM since I realized that there are people who enjoy reading as well. I wanted to do a relatively good job to make it a nice read.
Thats not true. I make it a point to read most ride reports and especially yours. I always loved them. Please continue writing along with the magnificent pictures.

1480 kms pillion on an R1 is no joke! I went on a short stretch behind the R1 and I struggled each time the bike accelerated and decelerated. Tiny seat, uncomfortable and pretty much resting on the back of the rider.

Ken, like I always said, please continue penning down ride reports, everyone of them. This is Biking spirit at its best. Awesome write up! Damn, I almost missed this thread!
