    Prologue

Two weeks back from now I received a call from Vizag, regarding some issues(related to my business) and I need to go there to solve that. Decided to go there with my Bike. Call my friend come brother Ayan and told him about the trip. Also told him that I wanted to do the entire Araku-Kolkata route (1005kms up to my home) within 24hrs on way to back. There is a cause behind it, frankly speaking I wanted to do the Kolkata-Delhi NH2 Route within 35-40 hrs with my Discover in the next year Spiti Circuit Trip. He agreed to go with me but he said that we don't have any rain gear's or Riding Jackets or Leather Hand Glaves or....... the list continues........

I said that we have our Discover125.....and borrowed 2 school boy type waterproofs from a friend.(don't loughI don't wanted to buy that)

Decided to start on 22/07/09 at 5am.

    Some preparations

Took my bike to Subrata da, the mechanic and told him to check the engine (a noisy sound coming out). Just 2 minutes, he told me that need to change some parts....

The old Clutch plates and Timing Chain set

changed that. and the noisy sound gone. It was smooth as before. Took another bottle of mobil. Filled tank. We are now ready.

      Day 0> 22/07/09

Can't sleep at all yesterday night because of the excitement. Woke up at 4am, make some preparation and depart from home sharp at 4:45, meet Ayan at his house, within 5 we are on the road. Reach Vidhyasagar Setu as usual within 35minutes. Toll paid and proceed.

Sky was cloudy. Rain can start anytime. We took just 2 simple waterproofs(like school boy) for rain protection nothing more. We were running at a good pace. Our target for the day is Puri or Gopalpur. The first one is around 530kms and the other one is 625kms. Both distance is from my home. Crossed Uluberia and rain started. There was a low presure zone created over Bengal and Orissa. Hence it was monsoon, so its normal. After crossing Kolaghat rain stopped. Entered Kharagpur at 7:45am and move through NH6. From there NH60 was started. The road is like a runway, its so smooth that one can reach 150 easily (obviously not in my discover)
      NH 60 at its best

Who is that young boy? Oh...its Ayan

      more to follow.....

Soon we crossed Balasore and the bad roads started. It was NH5 from there to Chennai and it was a single carriage till before Bhadrak. The first incomplete stretch of Kol-Chennai GQ. Single carriage with lot of diversions. This stretch is about 57kms. So irritating for such a long journey. We are boiling under the sun, humidity was so high and........

face the reality...for the first time in my long or short trip experience....a flat rear tyre. 10:30 am, we are now in Soro. About 1 and a half KM walk and we reached a repair shop.

It took almost 45minutes to repair. Hit the road again. Road is in very bad shape. Local traffic disturbance increases. Auto, cycle van, Careless pedestrians, Buses, motorbikes are just few examples. Is this a part of GQ?
              Some bad road in NH5

When we are running we saw that the both side of the road are just flooded by water. Deep muddy water. Ya its flood. We saw a picture of orissa flood in an Oria news paper at the repairing shop also.

Reached Jajpur and took another pit stop. NH5 is now smooth as runway again

                What to say?

                Oh.... God

Its 3pm, and we are hungry, so entered in this dhaba, the menu is simple rice with dal and curry

Oh yes, firstly from Uluberia to Balasore and secondly after crossing Chandikhol (61KM BEFORE BBSR) to BBSR . The second time its massive. After that no rainfall we faced.

If this is not an offence I am giving a link here, You can check that, there I have gave a 'SPECIAL THANKS TO AYAN CHATTERJEE' because 23hrs continuous riding is not possible for those person who are not an habituate tourer in a Bike, I'm talking about both of us. Yes he rode also. He is junior than me as per age is concern....but I admire him because of his courage and enthusiasm. He is like my junior brother. We, means Me and Ayan are from a locality where you cannot found any single person who can go for a trip with bike, even they cannot think just a bit about this matter in their imagination. If you follow the name of this thread you will find '2 men'
                              The Unlimited Tourer
