We were running at a good pace. Sky was very much cloudy but thankfully no sign of rain. Everything was running smooth.......

.....until I saw the engine for a routine lookup when I was doing 85KM/PH.

'Ayan...Oil leaking from the engine top'- said by me.

Stopped immediately. Oil was leaking from the top of the engine, and I got the cause behind that. I have changed the clutch plates and the Timing Chain Set 1 week before and after that the bike runs only for 15kms. The gum used for sealing the top somehow properly not able to pest the both side or it was a mechanic mistake. If I ran the bike for some long time before the trip then it can be easily noticed.

We are now in Chandikhol, 61kms before Bhubaneshwar and the time is 3:30pm. We decided to go to a mechanic shop. Asked someone and he told that about 1.5kms ahead there was a shop. We were lucky. The shop was situated left side of NH5 and it was open. There was two guys working on a Splender, told them about the problem. They said that they will sealed the engine by opening the top and then again pesting. It will took 1.5hrs. We agreed.

      work is going on

      view from the shop

      The shop

The entire job completed after 2 hrs. Costs Rs.60/-. Gave them thank and proceed. After few kilometers the rain started again. Massive rain. But we didn't stop at all, as we were already running behind schedule. This time it was much more than massive. Believe me. Our speed dropped at as low as 15KM/PH. Visibility was like zero. risky, but we move on. We were completely soaked even after wearing the school boy type waterproofs. The massive rain gone for around 40kms. It took almost 2.5hrs to reach Bhubaneshwar. Traffic increases around Cuttack and BBSR. We decided to move on instead of Puri but upto Berhampur. 163 kms from BBSR. So the dark stretch of NH5 started. Rain stopped completely but leave some effect on us and that was 'Shivering'. It was difficult to ride a bike on a single carriage in night but in this 4 Lane it was nothing. We rode smoothly up to Kuhuri(khurda Dist.), there we took our dinner at a road side dhaba. This Dhaba is a local drunkers paradise. Everybody gossiping with holding a glass of drink. The time is 9:30pm. The menu we ordered is Roti and Mixed Vegitables. We asked a guy(he was not drunk) whether the road up to Berhampur are safe or not? he reply's 'its safe'. Few minutes rest and then again back on track. Trucks are increasing and private vehicles are discreasing now. Its completely dark everywhere. My bikes headlight is strong enough to show us the way. I have changed the headlamp with a new one.

After few kilometers of Kuhuri the road turns into single carriage again and the problem begin by opposite vehicles headlight. Nothing to see. Nobody is ready to turn the light on low beam. Even after repeatedly giving high and low beam signal. A bike is nothing to them. I've seen this many times before also.
My bike in the Dhaba at Kuhuri

We reached Balugaon at 11pm and saw a good hotel. Lets call it a day. We checked in there for 350 bucks. Some refreshments and gone to sleep.

Great pics Bhaskar...reminded me of my own ride last year...Vizag was THE place to be on new year on the east coast. And don't tell me that you entered the city via the NH! We took a detour that landed us on the marine drive riding along the sea. That was enough to make us all eyes for the scenic road. Thanks to a colleague, we knew all the places to visit and food to gorge when we were in Vizag.

as I mentioned before this trip was not a holiday trip,in Vizag I've some jobs pending, we just somehow managed to visit the beach and Kailashgiri in Vizag. Then why we go with the bike?. The main purpose behind that was, I just wanted to know Me and my bikes ability for a really long trip. and we succeeded by continuous riding of 1005kms within 23hrs.

                              please keep watching...

                                Day 2> 24/07/09

As per plan we are going to Araku vally today. Woke up at 6, freshen up and go to the reception downstairs. Some formalities and we are on our way to Araku. The total distance is 110kms from Vizag. One has to follow the NH5 to the Chennai direction and after few kilometers need to turn right from NH5. Its connect Vizag and Koraput(OR). For the first 10kms the road is under construction(widening job) and full of local traffic. Very difficult to ride a bike. There are so many diversions also. But after that stretch it was a super smooth drive. Scenic beauty on the both side of the road. Hills come closer as we are getting nearer to S.Kota(57kms from Vizag).

S.kota - short form of Srungauarapukota. There we took our first stop for breakfast. Entered in a restaurant, ordered Idly and Tea, Cost Rs.16/- all total for 2. Very cheap.
                                Our restaurant at S.kota

                                My Bike in S.Kota

After S.kota the climbing starts slowly.

After S.Kota there was a place called Tyda. APTDC has made an Eco tourism resort at there. The place is nice. Surrounded by forest.
Some more pix on the way
