Quest to chandra taal. Satiated???.......no!
Had been planning a ride to chandrataal for weeks, but every now and then something or the other proved to be a bottleneck. Last to last week, i had to take a U-turn from Marhi.

Nor are we satiated with just one photograph! Far from it. On the contrary, it has only whetted my apetite! The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Hey guys, I appologise for the delay in posting the logs.... I'm sorry. But the circumstances were as such that i couldn't help it.
DAY1:
Covered up the distance till Mandi at a good pace and had lunch beyond Mandi. After playing hide and seek for a while the rain gods came down heavily in Kullu, which resulted in a loss of good two hours or so. Crossed Kullu and after a brief photo session near the bank of Beas moved towards Manali. As I entered Katrain, it again started raining cats and dogs and was forced to retire for the night there. Checked in to a HPTDC hotel, a beautiful british cottage on the bank of river Beas.
PS: Water gushing down the valley is the music for the nightJ
Distance covered 525kms.

Aryan: It's better to go to c'tal when one is coming form kaza side. as you would have acclamatised better. I faced mountain sickness (for the first time in my life) in batal, where i had stayed for the night. It's just a thought which I would lik to share in the forum. It also depends from individual to individual as well.
Inder: yes, zma's name is chum.
Kurtrules: I took my bike till the last point, from where one goes down the hill to the lake.

@Anshul: Thanks for putting up the 'Day-1' log.
Nice.
As for the mountain sickness, we (me and DCS) did experience a little headache and quite a lot of breathlessness while we were in Kaza. It really makes life difficult at times. When I ride to Chandrataal, I am planning to ride through this very route which you took. Anyhow, I never know; I just might take the Spiti route again, though!
