KenDa: Thanks for such a beautiful log, waiting for more to come. Really felt honoured riding with biggies in the hills.

    Mik: Hmmm...waiting for the call....

OldFox: Sir, we really missed your expert points all the way

It was GREAT fun riding with you. You inspired us to ride like the devil! I have NEVER ridden like that around corners in my life till I rode with you, behind you that is!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Good stuff this. As Old Fox said, too many weekenders make me claustrophobic even being amidst the mountains. It is a chore in itself just to get to the destination in these conditions. The same thing happened with me on my last dash on the same roads on the Busa with Anurag - it was just hot instead of wet!

I would like to wish you a belated happy birthday. Remember the bumps we gave you on 15th August 2006, the day GIR started. Time sure flies fast. Since then it has been a learning and a pleasurable experience with you.

So you did up in a duel with Manan, lucky that he didnt drive coax you into a truck's tyre on down the ditch.

@Manan: Good to know the enthusiasm and the skills are still as sharp. God help everyone on the road the day you get a superbike!

@Nitin: Good to know you enjoyed. Hows the experience using the DSLR?

^Absolutely, though I know someone with the same name as yours who scrapes his knees at every chance he gets and petrifies everyone behind him by hanging off the bike even when not needed.

Once beyond Pinjore, I did not really mind it. There weren't too many that could not be taken care of if you know what I mean!

Thanks for everything. I am not beating you to pulp. Manan is the one who did all the beating!

And yes, try following him in the hills and you will learn what cornering is all about!

I remember that a year ago, he was afraid to go around a roundabout; today he beats the living daylights out of local riders in Himachal!

Actually, I have got brand new rubbers, just 2000kms old with which I went there. For the first time I got to use them to near the edges as can be seen in the photographs posted.

Rain, lack of petrol & near death experiences sound like a recipe for a memorable trip.
For some reason the camping holidays that I really remember is when I slept in a leaking tent, froze at night in a wet sleepingbag, got lost and all my food became a wombat’s breakfast. It must be something about grief & suffering that burn those nightmares into your long term memory, actually I think I just watched survivor as a kid a few too many times.

Hey I’m spewing I didn’t make it to the Himalayas this time around but did manage an 8 day trip to Ooty on my little 4 speed Ybx. It was interesting but there were 800km to cover before I even got to the hills. We planned a ride with an Aprilia and a Yam but again I ended up riding alone in the rain and mud, not that I’m complaining.
Are any of you planning to attempt the Raid anytime soon? In a few years I won’t mind giving it a shot in a 4WD, the only problem is everything I drive are too big and too slow for the Raid. Will need to buy/borrow/steal a little Suzuki. I believe a few years ago Isuzu has their off-road challenge near Gangotri, I wonder if that was a one-off. Anyway I’ll stop wandering off topic.
How did Nitin’s Comet do on the twisties? I thought it was a bit heavy to throw around and the rear is under-damped and all over the place. Well that was the GIR Comet that Journos like Bunny determined to kill it. On tight bends its the little lightweights who are kings. Remember Bikecrazy upgraded from an R1 to a ZX2R!
Oh, and Belated Happy Birthday. I’m sure it would have been one of the more interesting ones

You may get in touch with Nitin for more details. According to Vivek, the best suited vehicle is still a little Suzuki, named locally as the "Gypsy"!
