    Magnificent Tour Report Approved

Approved it even while the initial pines "assailed the nostrils" and reading the rest now.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Now I can see why were you on the status of creating a Tourer thread from past sometime! say an hour or Half!

Sir loved the way you have penned down the feeling and expirience, and these two foto;s nothing much has changed except the Water level in the stream!
and the Status of the same rest house!

      And Some more!!

P.S: I loved the Comparison Between the ride in 1996 and now in 2009!

I simply loved the "terrible roads" from Marhi onwards, riding through melting snow, streams, slush and mud, hastily cleared landslides, rocks and most importantly practically no tarmac! That was just 5 weeks ago or so. As you know by now, unfortunately due to the huge snowfall and landslides we had to stop short of Chhota Dhara. But we still managed to time ourselves in the Gramphoo-Chattru Stage of the Raid! By the time you finished, you must have met/seen the Raid teams and participants and crews moving around.

Yes... as you say, memories and photographs can fade, but places like Jalori pass and Spiti are quite timeless. We tried Jalore as well and failed to get there too.

Thanks for sharing such a marvellous story. The photographs look like paintings on a canvas!

Thanks for the quick n appreciative approval Ken.

Thats the difference between two mindsets: you were out for 'off-roading' and tarmac would have been disappointing. we were out 'touring' and tarmac is welcome!!

With Vivek around and both you and Nitin rapidly climbing the 'learning curve', timing your rides would have been inevitable.

No..didn't get to see any Raid teams as we re-crossed batal - Gramphoo on the 10th.

This was the first time I crossed Jalori in bright sunshine and with clear skies. On three occasions before, twice it was in rain and fog and once at night.

May would be diecy. Too much snow on the passes and the stretch between Gramphoo and Batal would be troublesome with lots of meltwater.

@OF: Super stuff. The before and after effects are evident on the subject of the photo as well

Lovely collection of photos there. Spiti is captivating..

Splendid! I heard from Imran about your trip. I was eagerly awaiting your Spiti trip travelogue. And here it is!

And Srikeerthi doing Leh to Manali in one day! That's surprises all, given the fact he is a big time shutterbug.

@Old Fox: So, we finally have it here. Good Clicks and I liked the comparison clicks too, things havent changed too much in the past 13 odd years, but for the steed and the weight of the Rider...LOL
I wonder how you remember the exact location where you clicked the pics 13 years back unless you marked it someway or the other...Though I've said things havent changed, but I never meant that things havent changed at all....

At last the thread is here

I read the text a few times just to soak in the beauty of it. Thanks for all those adjectives used to making me sound like a speed demon. But I actually was riding casually (by my standards :P ) with enough stops for photos and WIWO sessions (water in water out ).

Just that I wanted to push things a little bit, and once you have fresh clean air and nice vistas around, you really dont feel tired as much as an hours run through a city centre.

But so many days of touristy leisure travel and all you had was 20 pictures to share. Oh c'mon give the kids something more to enjoy

I hope to have my thread up and running soon, as soon as i finish finding my way out of 33Gb of unprocessed pictures

This is brilliant stuff OF sir. OMG, the pictures are surreal. The comparison of time in the same place would have been a brilliant experience for you? 13 years back, you were in that exact place. Feels good.

Do people do Spiti and Leh,Ladakh in one trip? I was wondering if it was possible to do it in a single trip.
