Aryan, as mentioned at the top of the first post, I did this trip in April last year.

      Day 3

This day was the return. We woke up early and by 8 am we were on the road again. I had planned to take the other route to Chandigarh i.e. through Kangra, and avoiding Pathankot altogether.

The route was from Jot (a village nearby), after which the road led to Kangra.

From Kangra it was Kangra - Chintpurni - Mubarakpur - Amb - Una - Nangal - Ropar - Chandigarh.

The road after Mubarakpur till Nangal is real bad (till date) and would suggest if you go to dharamshala go via hoshiarpur

Day 3's log was pretty boring Kurt, when compared to the first two days, but it is pretty much understandable. However, the photographs are surely worth the effort; thanks for sharing it all buddy.

P.S: How do you find Khajjiar? I really want to go there for clicking photographs. Also, would like to know the staying options at Khajjiar, as I would like to go out early morning to shoot pictures of the area; seems to have some real good scope for photography. My preference would be to stay in Khajjiar for atleast half a day (or a little more), and then go exploring Dalhousie.

As Aryan put it Day 3 was a bit out of tad which is understandable. Thanks for sharing.

Well honestly, there was nothing much in Day 3 except for the simple 400 km ride back home. Nor did we click many pics, hence its short. And like I said, this was written a long time ago, and was meant to be more of a short photolog.

Vaise, I want to start a thread where I can update my fornight trips and share photos, rather than starting a dedicated thread all the time. I think that will be a good idea.

Khajjiar, or the bowl, as they call is fantastic. As you descend from dalhousie, you ride through the dense forest and suddenly you feast your eyes on this huge huge green circular patch of land! It is a sight for sore eyes Then there is this small pond in the middle which adds to the beauty.

Early morning, specially in winters dont be surprised, if you walk out and witness a white bowl resembling the moon! And in Autum, it is completely yellow! Yes, that contrasting are the colors.

For staying, there is the HPDTC hotel, charges 1500/room 30 % discount on lean period. Plus many other small shacks, so you can weigh your options. And yes, don't venture out there during the tourist season. I think Feb/March should be good.

Rather than going back diretly to Dalhousie, you can also head out to Chamba, which is again blessed by nature. A small dam there is worthwhile seeing. Head back to Dalhousie in the evening. 40 kms from Chamba.

This way enables you to complete a full loop. Plan out 3/4 days and let me know, I'll figure out an itenerary for you

@Kurt: Thanks for that lovely piece of info. I really appreciate you taking all the time to post that. My main intention, like you must have guessed by now, is solely photography. Getting some decent to good shots of Khajjiar and the places surrounding it (like that forested road you mentioned, etc.) would be great!
