Practically there is no precise way of riding on black ice. You just have to be real slow and use your feet for balancing, at times. Rightly pointed out by the bus driver, engine braking is a better form off braking under such conditions. But you have to be extra cautious while downshifting as well, lest you end up locking your rear wheel and kiss mother earth
Also, riding with a pillion is more advantageous in such conditions as you tend to put up more weight at the rear and hence more stability.

and most imp. whenever a slight slip of rear tyre persist he used to get panic and get ready to jump off the bike

That's the good and the bad to riding in Winters/ in snow. Along with the sheets of white, you get some Black glass and at times a blue Eye. I remember last Year, when I went to Hatu Peak, I had a tough time in standing, or walking on the black Ice.
Ok, as rightly said by Kurt, there is no such way as Right way to ride on Black ice. Lets understand that Black ice is practically a Zero Friction surface in comparison to tarmac or any other surface. So one has to save and use any traction that is available any which ways. Reducing the tyre air pressure is a decently good move, though am against deflating too much, which would in turn make the wheel wobble too much. Further, braking and acceleration has to be used with utmost care and caution, a little too much can get us the undesired results.
Acceleration should be kept to the bare minimum, while using both of the legs as support pillars. Also, while moving from dead halt, try to move ahead in 2nd gear rather than 1st gear, for the fact that 1st gear might give undesired wheel spin, if we are not cautious enough. Too much of torque delivered to the rear wheel will just ensure a wheel spin, which no sane person would welcome anytime on Black Ice.
Braking again is as vital as accelerating. Harsh brake is simply no-no. Wheel locking by any means should be avoided. Over- deceleration is as harmful as over-acceleration in respect to Black Ice. So, abrupt shift of gears should be avoided. Also, over deceleration by any means would ensure that we loose out on whatever traction we are left with, and landing us to in one of the most disgusting situation. Avoid wheel locks at any cost.
But the crux of the matter is, just be extra-extra cautious, for, Black Ice is just another way to Go!!!

P.S: Has any body wondered, that one still gets scratches on the bike after a fall, no matter how much hue and cry we raise about TOO LESS FRICTION/ TRACTION on Black Ice.
