@iwonder - I'm sticking to the 30 day plan - Route 2 in the FB event - the map I've put in the first post is also the same one.

Also, quoting MG_xbhp's reply in the FB event regarding route 2:

"Going up 5 + 2(backup),North of Delhi (13+2), Coming back (6+1). Sound good enough to me with backup in all the legs and still enough time the whole trip"

    Thanks for scouting out Goa...

As I said Lijok in FB I'm 24 hours available for answering any quering. Just shoot the question

Transporting the bike in train is quite an easy process if you are travelling in the same train and taking the bike as a luggage. Sure there is always a chance small things like RVM breaking but if you are ok with that then you save a lot of time if you are short on leaves.

Not a bad idea... let's see how things work out in August...

            the route

I am slightly pessimistic about you guys being able to finish the whole ride in 30 days and having fun, i.e, sightseeing and all at the same time. I could be wrong as I have no real experience in very long distance touring.

I am having quite a tough time planning my tour of this May. I was supposed to do it in 20-25 days originally, but the more I think about it, the more time I think it will take. Right now I am at 45 days. Now, I have given up trying to plan it, and decided to just go with the flow. If I really like some place, I'll stay longer or just keep moving on.

Any real input I guess I'll be able to give you by June mid, that should be when I will be making it to Hyderabad.

On a different note.. if you don't mind me asking, why are you guys going through Hyderabad? Coming all the way in through A.P and then going back out to Vishakhapatnam would be too boring and tiring. Just a suggestion.

@epic.fail.engineer - the route is just an overview. Will be doing final modification based on inputs from all you guys going before us.
Also, Vishakhapatnam - Hyd is on the return leg, and included there just coz the last time I came to Hyd (while in college) I fell in love with the roads and wanted to ride there atleast once... Seems silly, but then being adamant to ride the whole distance will also look silly and pointless to many - but thats my wish and I want to do it.

To tell you the truth, nothing seems silly to me anymore. I know what I am doing is silly, considering I plan on going in May. I think of you to be in the privileged class because I still get dreams of the twisties in Munnar-Top Station and you can make your way there probably every alternate weekend. And that wouldn't be silly at all.

Its just that you are doing 10k kms and lets say you average 600kms on the days that you are making distances between stops, 16 days will go in riding alone. There is no doubt you can do it, but by the end of it you might feel you could have spent more time at a particular destination or something like that. Since time is a constraint, you might as well have a slightly smaller km count and spend more time wherever you like it more.

Agree with animeher about transporting the bike by train. We take our bike from Bangalore to Goa every year, (Riding down next week). It is a bit of a hassle but sometimes worth the trouble. Reach the Parcel Office at least two hours before departure of the train, ensure your petrol tank is empty, carry some gunny sacks for packing the bike, and take photocopies of your bike papers. You may have to tip the loaders at both stations (origin and destination). Make sure you travel on the same train as your bike.

                  Cheers

Its the riding that I've taken as the challenge. Like you said, more than half the time will be riding... Since the time I started riding, its been a dream to ride to distant parts of the country... . Even if its crazy and unnecessary, once I do it, I can say that I've lived my dream...

@lijok. plz go for the trip. i just did a delhi bangalore this week. at the begining everyone was like, what is this guy?? crazy or a freak? but for me it was entirely about riding and knowing the country better. i went for it. the ride was safe and comfortable. the basic fact is that have lots of water with glucose, if you feel a bit tired, stop the vehicle and relax. its good for both the rider and the ride. cheers guys. delhi bangalore, i was able to do within 3 days with real ease. i was entirely travelling at a speed below 90. mostly between 80-85 kmph. as all says u will get tired. but if u stop and go i can guarantee that there wont be any issues. i reached blore and i dont have any issues. also make sure that u guys have good sleep in the night. dont risk on that part. wear a bit loose jacket. this will decrease the heat. have onions from hotels when u have food. it will decrease the heat inside ur body. u can contact me anytime for any suggestions. i used a 20w50 engine oile for my fz. the performance increased as the heat increased.. good luck guys anyways.. u guys can make it for sure.

Had to postpone this plan. Instead 5 of us did Delhi - Srinagar - Leh - Manali - Delhi circuit in Sep 2011. It was an awesome ride.
I understood that I need a bigger bike and more time to do this particular ride. Hoping to get it done in 2 years time. Meanwhile, the data collection continues...
