We are planning to go on bike (Yahama SZ-R), my Bike completes only 3000 kms on ODO. Sumup weight of both is around 180kgs.

    1. Will it be safe to ride a Bike to Agra considering that fact that my wife will be accompanying me (first Time).

    Absolutely safe

    2. Will there be enough mechanics on the Delhi Agra road incase there is a break down due to Puncture or something. Do i need to carry any bike spares? I would prefer to travel in light so i thought not to carry not spares with me.

Yes more than enough of everything

    3. Planning to leave from home around 5am.

    Good enough time
It is open for two wheelers, but I wouldn't advise it on the bike you have, also you won't have any back up or food places. So my advice, don't take the Yamuna expressway.

    5. Which route to follow from Vikaspuri, New Delhi to Tajmahal ( a snapshot of google maps will really helpful)

Vikaspuri-Gurgaon(NH 8)-Sohna-Palwal-Mathura-Agra. Map Link - Vikaspuri, New Delhi, Delhi to Agra, Uttar Pradesh - Google MapsBasic crocin, dependal kind of medicines. First aid is necessary.Don't use pillows, just mentally prepare yourself for a sore bum and back

    8. Also please suggest some stoppage.. for rest in between.

Hodal has good Dhabas, Mathura has a Mcdonalds with proper toilets for ladies, otherwise lots of decent petrol pumps with toilet fascilities with attached Dhaba.

    9. Any Modification in Bike needs to be done like tubeless tyre..

Nah stock is perfect. It will take about 4 hours. So ride safe

    Thanks

If the ride is for enjoying yourself and you don't intend to return on the same day, skip the expressway. I don't think there is adequate support available on YEW if you need something. Regular highway will have better facilities. With all the fog and rain, I wouldn't feel safe on the expressway. Waise bhi, there isn't even 1 tree where you can stop and maybe rest under if you need an urgent butt break or something.

The rest, Avinash bhai has already explained. Do carry your raincoats, wear your helmets, leave your worries and frustrations back at home and enjoy the open road.

For the first-timer lady, keep her hydrated properly or else extended period of time on the bike will certainly leave her with cramps.

Best of luck on your ride. Ride safe.

Sorry for serving a late reply here (but anyways if you have your plans alive till 17.02.13, please take a look). Although your queries have been answered above, allow me to add a few more lines.

I have been to Agra though the Yamuna E-Way, and the only reason I took it was to check out the newly opened e-way. Well, you will need to pay a total of Rs. 248 as 2-wheeler toll charges to n fro Agra, you will come across three tolls before finally entering into Agra. And, Agra itself has got proper sign boards to take you to Taj Mahal.

Every toll has snacks n hot serves available with good toilets and drinking water facility (really clean) ........... Please do make a tank full (P Pumps are scarce on e-way) and avoid high psi pressure in tires (the commuters as well as our cars are not meant to run at such higher speeds for such a long duration). The road is good so you will not have any potholes to hit, but yes you may get bored driving all the way as it is all the way fenced and there are no dhabas in between, although you can always make a stop.

During the night though it was not a good e-way to drive on a bike ........... barring the exit points rest of the distance is not at all lit ......... they have just reflecting indicators fixed all around to hold you on to the lane you are driving in.

Do get a service before if possible, as you will soon realize (after riding through Taj E-Way) that even 100 kmph is not decent enough of a speed ........... even I was running my Honda stunner at 80-90 Kmph continuously from toll to toll. But you will anyway enjoy the drive.

Please ensure proper woolens to cover up and at this part of the year you will have a relatively nice and comfortable tour (comforting sun and cold breeze). Since mam will be on her first ride, you may take a stop just after reaching the e-way, and then at every toll.

Don't think so much for yourself & the Bike man !
Just for the Wifey, if she can manage 3-4 hours on Bike ?

          Delhi to Agra ?
          Its a short + fun trip !

We've been there like 20+ times. Sitting near home & getting bored, Lets go to Agra / Jaipur kind of plans

I think you have a day only to spent ?
          i.e., Sunday ?

Well then Leave early morning & you will Reach Agra & get enough time to see Taj Mahal, Red Fort & others. Forget name :/

Yamuna Express Way - Never seen it though I'm in Mumbai now.
National Highway - Go for it.

But as you're leaving early morning. So please take care of the FOG. The road is kind bumpy & full of holes at someplaces.
Takecare of the Tractors, Trucks on that road in Fog.

You'll also get to see Mathura on the way & can spend some time if you want.

Look for a big flaming Chimney. You'll be able to see it from a big distance. Looks good in a early morning time.

Check map for the 24Hour-McDonalds. So that you don't miss it.

It's straight road once You're on the NH. So don't worry much.

Just check if you're wifey can sit for that much time on the Bike ?
Back, Bums, Legs gonna pain / numb for sometime for sure.

Other things are already mentioned above.
First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal
