  • Road trip: Mumbai to Chennai.

    Hello guys,

I am from Mumbai but I'm studying engineering in Chennai. I am planning to get my bike to Chennai in January 2014 from Mumbai. My bike is a 2010 Yamaha FZ16. Initially I was thinking to transport it through railways or a courier system. Then my father gave me an idea to drive the bike all the way from Mumbai to Chennai. I have very little experience of biking and I thought this is a great idea for me to learn more about my bike.
I want to know if anyone else has done a road trip from Mumbai to Chennai. How much time it will take and where should I take a stop? Also, what is the procedure to get an NOC for driving a bike registered to another state? Currently I'm in my third year of engineering and I will be riding it in Chennai for the next 1.5 years.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I guess Mumbai to Bangalore and Bangalore to Chennai would be ideal enough.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Mumbai to Chennai approximately, 1350 Km; do the math as how many hours can you keep your endurance, what speeds can you keep depending on which you should get you average speed & thus will be able to calculate time taken

        Mumbai - Lonavala - Pune - Satara - Kholapur - Nipani - Belgaum - Dharwad - Hubli - Davangere - Chitradurga - Hiriyur - Tumkur - Nelamangala - NICE - Hosur - Shoolagiri - Chinnar - Krishnagiri - Vaniyambadi - Ambur - Vellore - Kanchipuram - Chennai

        On a FZ16, here's what I would do...

        Mumbai - Lonavala - Pune - Satara - Kholapur - Refuel & B'Fast
Kholapur - Nipani - Belgaum - Dharwad - Hubli - Haveri - Davangere - Refuel; if you can carry lunch, you can have it somewhere in between
        Davangere - Chitradurga - Hiriyur - Tumkur - Nelamangala - NICE - Hosur - Shoolagiri - Refuel & Dinner
        Shoolagiri - Krishnagiri - Vaniyambadi - Ambur - Ranipet - Vellore - Kanchipuram - Chennai

It's headache; avoid it; if you're still interested, we'll discuss about it.
