  • What should I keep when going for a 2~3 day solo ride?

I am planning for a 800~100km solo ride this week end,
My ride is CBZ extreme 2011.

    I will cross Kerala-Tamilnadu boarder.

    what documents should I keep?
How much money if a police ask for bribe?

Should I carry any byke spare parts or tools?

How long should I do in a single stretch?
    Should I avoid night riding?

What should I take care when climbing up and down a high range?

What should I when riding through a forest?

How to pick a good budget hotel for stay?

Please add more info if I missed any.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

      what documents should I keep?
all the necessary documents should be kept with the bike.
orginal RC, pollution cert, insurance, licence

How much money if a police ask for bribe??
if you have all the documents and are keeping your speed under limits, there shouldn't be any problem.. and if by any chance they get you for something, first of all don't get cocky with them.. play soft..

Should I carry any byke spare parts or tools?
ya, clutch cab;es and accelerator cable should be kept in spare during long rides.

How long should I do in a single stretch?
its upto you.. if you can go for long, then do, else stop after 250-300 kms.. depends mainly on the riders physical strength.

      Should I avoid night riding?
ya, it should be avoided.. two main reasons, unknown areas so we don't know what type of people we may encounter and secondly we will miss out the views.

What should I take care when climbing up and down a high range?
you should not keep the bike in high revs all the time.. ride at 80% of the bikes potential and it would keep you rinning all day..

What should I when riding through a forest?
avoid if the area is known for dacoits and other dangers..

How to pick a good budget hotel for stay?
search for the hotels when in the evening, and not during the night time.. this is because at night, either the hotels are full or they would ask for high fare as they know the person has to stay and he can't go around searching at this late hour.

Please add more info if I missed any.

      reply in bold..

also try to keep a single person in contact at home and give all your location information and well-being during breaks..

      Ride safe and have fun.

        This might not be relevant
        1. Tyre tube if your bike tube is not easily available. If its Tubeless, carry the puncture repair kit.
        2. Odomos - if that part of the country is having lots of mosquitoes.

        This should be relevant
        1. The general thumb rule is to use the same gear while climbing down as going up - all factors remaining same. If you haven't ever ridden on the hills, remember the basics like sticking to your side of the road always and not being a Rossi right away
        2. Enter the corners slightly wider and cut into it.

        This is highly relevant
Gear! Hope you have all the basics like knee guards, gloves, a decent jacket and a well fitting helmet.

            1. Carry all documents in original(puc, insuarance, rc, dl). Also make it point to keep all your toll receipts, they will come in handy if you are ever harassed for riding an out of state bike.

            2. The question of bribe doesn't arise at all as long as you got everything on your end in order i.e. documents, all your bike lights are functioning the way they should and as long as you are not carrying anything illegal.

However if you have no option but have to resort for a bribe (m not encouraging bribery), settle at what seems reasonable to YOU.

            3. Carry extra clutch, brake and accelerator cables. Extra engine oil of the same grade that you are using. For tools all the standard tool kit ones and if possible a monkey spanner along with pliers and some insulation tape. Puncture kit and footpump can be a life saver at times

            4. This is something that noone can advise you on. You know your limitations the best so always ride keeping that in mind. Its always good to plan your ride with specific checkpoints.. this helps a lot when riding solo. However make sure that you never push yourself just because you got a targeted check point. Night riding again is all about your comfort.

However please make it a point to stop and recompose the moment you feel sleepy/drowsy irrespective of it being day or night.

            5. Riding at ghats could be the best leg of your journey if you do it the right way. Don't push yourself or your bike here. Just relax and enjoy when climbing and getting down. Try and avoid rear breaks if there is loose gravel on the ghats. Use a combination of front/rear and engine breaking when getting downhill.

            6. First check if the forest route you are opting is safe. Go through trip logs of others who might have done the same route to get to know what you can expect. Make sure to NEVER ride over leaves/bags/ or any other objects on the road... especially when in an isolated stretch. The above applies at other times too a strict no no to hitch hikers

            7. Make sure you check the room before you agree on the price

            8. As long as you have handled your clutch well you need not worry about the clutch plates yet.

            9. Carry rain gear for yourself and your luggage

Make sure to service your bike well in advance such that you can check it again. That way you wont have any surprises when you go on your ride

              In addition to the above,
              1. Carry a spare key close to your body
              2. Bike manual in bag
              3. Basic repair pages xeroxed&stored in bike under seat for reference.
              4. Keep expensive gold chains, rings at home.
              5. Don't carry all the money in one place.
              6. Emergency phone nos. in 2 places-bag&under seat
              7. Basic medical (motions, headache, fever&cold) &first aid kit.

Always a bad Idea !! Riding alone is like enjoying in dark only!
                i. No one to talk to!
ii. No one to click better pics of you and your ride together.
iii. Lone riding, no support in any incident.

                The better part is :
                i. You come to know your limits.
ii You learn the importance of socialism and friends.

Riding alone can't be very fun ever !! So as per me ride alone only if you don't have any options left!!

Only required ones i.e R.C./PUC/Insurance/ if it's out of city limit then make sure you carry all originals.(Show it only if required else xerox only).

A very controversial question. Originals documents and proper following of riding ethics won't have you to be in this situation.

                1. Mostly a tubeless tyre repair kit.
                2. Clutch and Accelerator Cables.

Check your cables and Brake Pads before hand to such long trips !!

Actually it depends on how better you know that route ??
If you are new/ stranger to that route than you should absolutely avoid riding post 7 pm. So you can find better hotels/lodges around.

Ride sanely in any range that would be more than sufficient.

It's better you ask this question to self brother.
Before entering the forest route enquire about the route i.e it's distance/ any helping areas in between/ route and it's direction clues aka land marks.
Best is don't stop in between.
Don't give a lift to any body.
And your vehicle should be in better shape.

This depends on how better you bargain and which level hotel/lodges you try to select.
It's better you choose a lodges they are cheap as compare to hotels.

PLEASE TAKE A GPS PHONE or A PRINT OUT OF YOUR ROUTE.
NEVER RIDE IN SLEEPING SYMTOMS AT ALL

I don't have any friends who like to ride or wander, most of them like to rent a car and enjoy its comfort.
They can't think abt riding more than 20~40 km on byke.
But have one friend with whom I ride mostly, We used to go 300~500 km rides on most weekends.
Sadly he is some where at JK
So I chose to Ride Single and put a mark.
