It\'s time for planning yet another trip and as always your inputs are the crux of the information gathering process.

I\'m planning a 14-15 day ride (starting 1st week of March) from Bhubaneswar to Sikkim(Gangtok and around) and Bhutan(as of now Paro, Thimpu,Punakha..bumthang maybe hard to fit in the time frame)
I\'ve been digging into information available and have a general idea of the places to cover and distances. Before starting of planning in detail i wanted to clear a few preliminary doubts
1) Is March the best time to visit these areas? especially in terms of ride-ability in cold weather? I\'m concerned about how cold it gets and the rains.
2) Tips for the Permits process in Sikkim & Bhutan(I\'m travelling solo and have heard that could be an issue in Bhutan wrt permits)
3) Safety in general in eastern/north eastern Indian roads.I\'ve driven in small or big parts all over south, west and central India but its the first time in this region for me.
As for the route it\'ll be:
Bhubaneswar - Kolkata(This isn\'t a problem for me)
4) Kolkata - Siliguri (This is the one I want info about) : There seem to be many approaches to this route as the direct NH 34 is usually pretty bad to ride on.But alternatives involve riding through Bihar and Jharkhand which raise concerns about safety as a solo rider.
Post Siliguri i have a rough plan but will share a more concrete version later.I\'m looking into threads like the Sikkim-Bhutan planner for reference and developing the plan further.
Any help as always will be much appreciated.
