Unlikely that a motorcycle rental firm will have a 'decent' helmet. Also ask yourself if you are willing to wear a smelly helmet used by countless others! If i were you, i would take all my riding gear with me!

Do carry your own helmet. Do not rely on them and as @The Monk said would you want to wear a smelly helmet used by countless others??
I did Badrinath last year during diwali and did not carry any riding gear. Please do not do that. Carry proper safety gear with you as last 40 kms for Badrinath are really difficult.
Do not worry about accommodation as it is easily available every 40-50 kms.

Thanks Rakesh and monk....I will plan accordingly... I do have arranged all safety gear for me..Now I will plan for helmet too...looks like all my doubts have been cleared by u people...thanks again...
